Your not incompetent, you just need more practice. Anyways its a good start.

A nice border around the SIG might add more aesthetics to it as a whole.

Nice use of the round sponsor shield in the center. Swap True North with Haterade and those two would stand out more. 

As you know your missing a logo but shit happens. Right idea with the sun like light source but maybe a lens flare would look more realistic and aesthetically pleasing.

Keep making these as your on the right track. Good effort.
