Kai keeps climbing.

We're in the last stretch of this 64th season, the Oslo Storm are 4th in the VHLM and are looking to be a lock for the fourth and last place for the playoffs. Kai, along with picks, was a part of, possibly, the biggest trade of the season with him going from Ottawa to Oslo with Puigdemont and Jones going the other. He had a disappointing season with Ottawa and was sitting far in the draft standings, scouts didn't seem to like his play, but all of that changed with the scenery change he got when he put on the red and black jerseys of the Storm. After getting only 4 points in 33 games in Ottawa, the Korean winger has found a way to get 17 points in 20 games with his new team that is nowhere near equal, talent-wise, to his old team.

On top of that, Matthew Kai was selected to be a part of Team Asia during this year's World Juniors tournament. Team Asia was seen as the worst team of the tournament and that is what they ended up being, but it didn't stop Kai from getting close to a point per game with them. He had a good tournament and you could say the same for the entire team who ended up going 2-6-0, but still looked very good in every game.

With all of this, Kai went from possible 4th or 5th round talent to a 2nd round talent who, with a big finish to the season, may surprise some people and end up being picked in the 1st round of the VHL draft.
