solas 1,951
Defender Aron Nielsen, a native of the Faroe Islands, signed his first VHLM contract with the Ottawa Lynx today. Nielsen, while relatively inexperienced at 19 years, featured fairly heavily for the Aalborg Pirates of Denmark’s Metal Ligaen last season - which caught the attention of a few of the more eagle-eyed scouts across Europe. The move to the VHLM, however, is a surprise for some. Nielsen was picked up by the Solas Agency recently, which put him in contact with VHLM teams, and will apparently be mentored by former Calgary, Vasteras, and Cologne defenseman Klaus Müller in his journey through the ranks of the VHL. “He’s very raw,” Müller said of the young defenseman. “But I see a lot in him. He’s got a lot of natural ability, a lot of potential. He’s a very smooth skater. Pretty good with the puck too. Most importantly, he’s a hard worker. I look forward to helping him in his career. I think Ottawa will be a good place for him to start out, there’s a lot of experienced people around the organization.” Nielsen will be with the Ottawa Lynx for the rest of Season 64 before entering the Season 65 VHLM draft - and later the Season 66 VHL draft. He’ll be hoping to stand out among an already-numerous crop of future prospects. eaglesfan036
