After a hard fought series between the Ottawa Lynx and Halifax 21sts, the Lynx fell to the 21sts in a tightly contested game 7. After going down 3-1 in the series, there was some hope that the dreaded "3-1 curse" would apply to Halifax, but the 21sts were able to pull out a well deserved victory. It was definitely an up and down series for Smitty. In only 6 games, Smitty was able to put up 10 assists and 34 hits, good enough for 2nd and 1st in the playoffs respectively. However, those 34 hits and physical play didn't come without a cost. Smitty's 30 PIMs were the most in the playoffs, all of which were minors. In one game, Smitty went to the box a whopping 7 times.

 

"Yeah...towards the beginning of the series, I got off my game. I tried to do too much, and it showed in all of the penalties I took. After those initial nerves, I calmed down, and it showed in my game, but by then, I put the team in too much of a hole."
