After 72 regular season games and a playoff series respectively, the Las Vegas Aces and Halifax 21st hit the ice Sunday in game 1 of the Founder's Cup final. The slight favourites from Vegas knew they would be tested immediately from puck drop. When you look at the names on the two rosters it is easy to see why these two teams finished 1st and 2nd in the standings and why these clubs were destined to meet in this seasons finale. 60 minutes of hockey between the two powerhouse offenses ended scoreless. 22 saves a piece by Chase and Nixon. From the outside looking in this may seem surprising but if you dig deeper into the defensive abilities of these clubs you may come to expect a lower scoring affair. Las Vegas headed into the first extra frame with 57 seconds remaining on Fish's late 3rd period minor for tripping. Nathan N capitalized on the opportunity just 14 seconds in to give Vegas the 1-0 win to take the early series lead. If this contest is any indication as to what is in store for the remaining 3+ games.... strap in.
