New York American Room-mates

When the New York Americans touch down in other VHL cities across the world, they first head over to the teams hotel to check the players in and make sure everything is taken care of for the night. The Americans are a young and upcoming team this season and are always looking for ways to boost team chemistry. We followed them on their latest road-trip to find out their secret behind the teams “bunking partners.”

Brick Wahl/Conner Low:

Two of the longest serving members of the young Americans squad, goaltender Brick Wahl and defenseman Conner Low having been bunking together since breaking into the league together last season. The backbone of the teams defense the coaching staff believes it's beneficial to the on ice chemistry to have these two know each other inside and out, thus the decision was made to room them together on road trips. Low and Wahl have bonded over the two seasons they have spent together in New York and look forward to watching many more episodes of WWE Vintage playing during the off nights in the hotel room.

Simon Trembley/Xin Xie Xiao:

The top goal scorers of the Americans roster have been bunking together to start the season this year, and it seems to be paying off so far. These two also came to into the organization last season, with Trembley coming over in a trade with the Calgary Wranglers, while XXX came to the team via the Season Thirty- Six VHL Entry Draft. The two wingers have been seen may nights in a meeting room in the hotel going over game plans and goalie weak areas to improve on their goal totals. The two pure scorers will be looked upon to carry the load offensively for the Americans and the team hopes they can bounce ideas off each other before bedtime each night.

GIYGAS/Tom Slaughter:

The two center man on the roster, newcomers GIYGAS and Tom Slaughter look to be bunking together for this season at least. Slaughter is in his first VHL season after being selected by the Americans in last off-seasons draft, while GIYGAS comes to the team after signing a late free agent offer just days before the season. The elder GIYGAS was put with Slaughter to show him the ropes, as he has spent a few seasons in a VHL face-off circle before coming to New York. Slaughter and GIYGAS are often seen in the hotel hallways practicing their face-offs during the team off days, so the chemistry has been instant between those two.

Odin Tordahl/Logan Laich:

Not much was said when we brought up these two and why they are bunking together other then management telling us, “they asked to be placed together when we go out on the road.”

Tony Stark/Andrey Zadorov:

The last two members of the club to talk about is the other half of the teams defensive core in Tony Stark and Andrey Zadorov. Two other newcomers to the Americans organization, Stark and Zadorov both have a rare condition that only lets them practice three to four times a week. Depending on how bad the side effects are of the medication they take to help with the conditions, they may not practice at all with the club that week. In keeping the two together the team hoes they can try to motivate each other to attend practice no matter how bad their day had been.

Odin Tordahl makes sure that Logan is stocked with plenty of scotch, steaks, and never has to go into a mall. In return Laich is Tordahls personal counselor and ensures that Odin is on his game 24/7. :P
