Player Overview

Michael Gary Scott (born March 15, 2003, in Scranton, Pennsylvania) grew up on the infamous 'Paper Belt' made famous by his father, Micheal Gary Scott, and the likes of Dwight Schrute and Jim Halpert. Since Micheal's father was a big time hockey fan (see below), he naturally found the talent that carved a path only most Canadians will see: hockey. 

 

Strengths

 

Scoring: Scott finished his final season in the NDTP with 69 goals wiping the record held by Auston Matthews (55) in a single season. Scott is as familiar with putting the biscuit in the back of the net as his father is at selling paper. We are predicting Scott puts up low numbers this upcoming season due to adapting to the new, higher skilled league, however, we can for see many goals in his future. He's been dubbed the 'Ovechkin' of the USA; some also like to call him 'Goldenface.'

 

Playmaking: Scott finished his final season breaking another record: assists in a single season with 88. This record was recently made by Jack Hughes (76) but Scott seems to be a natural offensive talent. Some say Scott gained his natural passing talent from the communication and interpersonal skills genetically passed down by his father (manager extraordinaire). 

 

Getting under the opponents skin: Scott has a unique way of sparking anger into his opponents: with a lack of intelligence. Scott is a one way hockey mind but when it comes to his chirps they are so bad and ridiculous, it drives his opponents wild. Zoiderberg, Scott's new teammate, said "When MGS chirps all the opponents can think about is the monstrosity that came out of his mouth. THey can't even focus on playing anymore. And that's when MGS strikes and scores or makes a play." Strange indeed. 

 

Weaknesses

 

When asked, Scott claimed his weaknesses are "I work too hard. I care too much. And sometimes I can be too invested in my job [hockey]."

 

Obviously this isn't the case. Scott shows weakness when it comes to his strength, size, and defense. Simply put, MGS is an offensive monster, but a defensive disaster. Can't win em' all. 

 

Strength/Size

Micheal Gary Scott comes in at a light 179lbs and a short 5'9 inches. He is small and shifty but once he gets caught by anyone who's is bigger, he's shut down by the weight of the opponents stick. He undoubtedly needs to grow (taller and thicker) if he plans to hold his own. 

 

Defense

Scott is a disaster in his own end. He doesn't like to back check and he doesn't like to stick to his man. He wants to be open and ready for the potential pass that sends him down the ice for a scoring opportunity. Scott needs to give his head a shake and learn from some veterans in the league, albeit the hard or the easy way. Nevertheless, look for a double or triple digit number in the +/- column this season. And by +/- column we definitely mean the minus column. 

 

Future Outlook

 

MGS seems to be a shoe-in for a prolific scorer in the VHL and can razzle and dazzle with his hand and his passing. Without a doubt he needs to work on his defensive game, however, he projects to be a big time scorer for the Mexico City Kings. We are predicting his number will be retired one day, his name will forever be in the rafters at some arena or another. Furthermore, we are predicting he will inevitably have many championship rings and all the fame his father sought out as a paper salesman.

 

His dad was 'World's Best Boss', so what can we expect from his son?
