Expansion Locations

The VHL is growing. New players all the time. The VHL Players Association (VHL & VHLM) has been reiterating the fact that there is “not enough ice time to go around” and “something needs to happen… now.” All this talk of ice time leads to a real problem. One possible solution that has been floated around the league is an expansion. Currently the VHL houses 10 squads while the VHLM has an odd 11. Perhaps the simplest solution would require both leagues to expand to 12. Two more VHL teams would ease the stress on the lines of teams and would lessen the star power on the squads. One more VHLM team would help house the influx of new players in the league.

Let’s take a look at two possible expansion cities for either the VHL, or VHLM.

First, Nuuk, Greenland. The VHLM recently expanded outside of Canada and the US to Mexico City. Next stop would be to bridge the gap between North America and Europe (for further expansions). Nuuk is the perfect spot. Who better to scare the enemies than the Nuuk Nukes?

Lastly, Hawaii. A part of North America? Yes. Would make for a good road trip from Eastern Europe to Vancouver and back across North America? Yes. Hawaii is an obvious location due to its lack of professional sports. It would pass as a unique place to play, and a place for the players to relax and rest on their road trip. Nothing better than some sun, Vitamin D, and some VHL hockey. And to be fair, the people voted in favour of Hawaii as an expansion team, for the VHLM however.

Either way, an expansion should be imminent for both leagues considering the current growth.

I think we should bring in an Australian team, as we are a well known country for having A) No ice really at all and B) never having strong hockey players. It could be in Alice Springs because then the away team would have to travel a lot and would have huge home "ice" advantage. Call it the Alice Springs Heat and this would be the logo

They play inside Uluru. There's a secret entrance to the arena somewhere on that rock...
