Position: C

Age:  18

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 215

Chad Gilbert had a rough childhood growing up in the lower income area of East Hartford. Raised by his Grandfather, he was tucked in at night with tales of the great enforcers of NHL’s past: Wendell Clark, Tie Domi, Marty McSorley, Donald Brashear, and of course the heavy weight; Bob Probert. From an early age Gilbert starting going to school every day wearing gloves, just so he could throw them down and get into fights. He’d spend more time in the principal’s office than in class. That is until he met a man who would change his life, his first hockey coach. He taught Gilbert about the finer aspects of Hockey. The passing, the scoring, the actual ability to skate (which Gilbert never realized was part of hockey), and finally winning a faceoff. Beating an opponent with his fists is one thing, beating him at the puck drop was a whole new world of humiliation he could inflict on a player. Of course Gilbert still fought. But it wasn’t what he needed anymore. He needed to win.

Pros:

Faceoffs  When Gilbert lines up for a puck drop, the outside world goes silent. This is his driving force. He demands a win. This guy’s is so intense that he tried fighting himself after a faceoff loss. A ref in the U18 league once gave Gilbert 2 5s for fighting because of the pain he inflicted on himself after a faceoff loss.

Passing – It’s like a mini faceoff to Gilbert. When the puck is on his stick, he wants to get it to a teammate in the most efficient way possible. He once passed while on a breakaway with an empty net.

Puck Handling – Gilbert’s intense need to pass has had a surprising Side effect, he can dangle that biscuit like a mofo. He gets dirty doesn’t even realize it. Anything to get a puck to a teammate and keep it away from the opposition.

Cons:

Scoring – He might be good at it if he gave it a shot. Gilbert is a pass first player even if the goalie is prone. This needs to be coached up. Maybe if he was reminded the Goalie can be humiliated too. Check to see if he realized the Goalie is a person.

Intelligence - That bio line about being with the principal more than in class wasn’t just a throwaway line. Not joking about checking if he knows the Goalie isn’t a robot. This guy has the mind of a goon with the skills of a playmaker, it’s amazing he can function at all. Coaches are going to have to spend some extra time in the film room with Gilbert. But we’ve seen amazing results in the U18s.

Defense – Weird right? Guy just wants to embarrass an opposing player but kind of shuts down when the puck isn’t his. Needs to be reminded that humiliation goes both ways. He let’s losing a puck get to him. Almost shuts down his game in the defensive zone.

In summation:

Gilbert has the tools to be a top line center if he can figure out how to play a complete game. He’s on the path to be an elite playmaker. If you have some snipers on the wings you are gonna love a guy like him on their line. He’s a locker room presence. Teammates love him. There’s concerns about his focus and complete game, but he’s young and highly impressionable.

Review:

Lets get that picture up top, front and center. Maybe try to find a younger version of your render as well to make it more believable.

Stats, summary, conclusion, pros, cons, and word count are all up to snuff.

You're missing Geno, but I'll let it slide.

Everything is a version of a faceoff if you try hard enough!

Liking what you've put together here. Good review report.
