Downey, Bulls Disappoint – Next Step, Draft

Houston, TX – What was supposed to be a great season for defenseman Jeff Downey and the Houston Bulls has come to a very abrupt end after a first round sweep against the Minnesota Storm. The Bulls came in to the series hoping to push the Storm deep but only managed to put up two goals in the four games.

This means that Jeff Downey’s focus will likely move onto the VHL entry draft. Downey, who is currently ranked as the third best prospect by the International Scouting Service, likely will not be returning to the VHLM next season and could very well be thrust into a top defenseman role in the VHL. There are many rumblings on where he may land as he has rocketed up the ISS rankings throughout the season. The two players ranked ahead of him, Condor Adrienne and Lance Flowers, are also defensemen so that puts Downey’s status into question. There are rumblings that one of the two expansion teams could be interested in his services. When asked about the potential to go to a new team Downey had the following to say:

‘I would absolutely love to help get a team off the ground. Sure, you could be drafted by an established team and probably make a push for a championship more quickly in your career. How often do you get a chance to start something like this?’
