Finishing just one point ahead of Helsinki, the Vancouver Wolves played host for the initial two games of the series. The Titans were overwhelmed out of the gate allowing 10 shots on goal to their three in the first 20 minutes of the series. Goaltender Alexander Pepper was up to the task and helped Helsinki escape the onslaught. The Titans fought hard in the second yet were still out-shot 12 to nine. Yet, the Helsinki managed to take a two to one lead into the 3rd period after early goals from Fontenette and their point leader Dan Wilinsky. Both goalies held their grounds in the final frame stopping 13

shots a piece. Helsinki emerged victorious and took game one of the series.

Game two provided Vancouver fans with much of the same in the first period. They out-shot the Titans 13 to nine but saw two goals to their zero hit the twine. Vancouver came out with a vengeance in the second frame scoring three goals including Gritty's much desired first of the playoffs. The score would be three to three after 40 minutes. The third frame was another onslaught by the Wolves as they fired 18 shots to Helsinki's six. Pepper was up to the task yet again as both clubs only allowed one goal. The score was four to four heading into sudden death. The Titans and Wolves showed equal grit and puck possession firing ten shots on goal a piece. Finally, at the 15:09 mark of the first overtime; Julius Freeman scored his 6th of the playoffs to tie the series at one.

Games three and four will be back in Helsinki. The Titans did not fare as well at home as they did on the road during the regular season. Helsinki was just five games over .500 at home while being 10 games above on the road. Vancouver had identical home and away records of records of 20-12-4.
