Donation to charity

The last weeks of 2019 the VHL community came together in a perfect way as they were raising money for the make-a-wish foundation. Due to it being a world wide league, players from other countries also could donate some money to a different charity which would be closer to their hearts, Condor Adrienne was no exception to this as he decided to donate some of his money to the Dutch organisation Villa Pardoes.

While it isn’t a really known cause for most of the people in the world, it is an actually charity that we saw from up ‘close’ what they would do for sick children, as friends from my wife, who have a very sick child, received a week, free of charge, at the villa for the child and his family. The Villa is located at the back side of the biggest amusement park in the Netherlands, ‘De Efteling’ , which is a theme park about a world of wonders, and the fact that they have this villa in which (I believe) twelve families can stay at a time, free of charge, free entry to the park and a lot of benefits, is truly breath taking. It is aimed at sick children between the ages of four and twelve and their father, mother, brothers and sisters can of course also join the holiday, all to make sure the family is together.

Every time we visit the amusement park we are also donating our spare cash money (and the kids love to be able to throw it in the donation box which is located in the amusement park

Especially since most of the kids who are invited there are terminally ill, it’s so nice to see them happy. Due to a tv program that was on the air two years ago we got a close look on how it actually went there. A dutch tv presentor was able to spend five days inside, meeting and talking with the people who stayed their at the time. One of the kids he meet there, didn’t even manage to stay alive until it was shown on tv and in interviews after, you could see this really touched him

With friends of my wife having a kid that can’t do anything on his own and needs help of his parents for anything, it was nice for them to be able to go there and try to relax for a week, instead of just thinking and fighting the disease he has.  While it’s just a tiny example, we heard from first hand how much this meant for them and this made it for us an easy donation target when the charity drive was announced.

We were happy to contribute in the name of Condor Adrienne and would like to thank him for giving us the platform to share this wonderful close to our heart good cause to which we donated. It was great to see what the VHL did, not only for the make a wish foundation, food banks all over the world and our small donation to this. Thanks for giving back to the world VHL!
