Hunter Hearst Helmsley – Bust!?!

Vancouver, British Columbia – People are constantly talking about HHH as if he is a highly skilled player, but is he really that good of a player? Sure he seems to have some hockey talent; he did score a bunch of goals last year; but was last season an anomaly in an otherwise mediocre career?

This year HHH is currently sitting with 28 goals & 43 assists for a total of 71 points in 64 games, barely over a measly point per game. Last year he actually put up an impressive 42 goals and 50 assists. However in the three seasons before his breakout last year he only averaged 57 points. Does this sound like a true franchise player to you?

While Vancouver continues to role this season it is upon a much more balanced offensive attack than seasons past. Contributions from the likes of Julius Freeman, Shawnomir Jagr, Michael Gary Scott and Jeff Downey have covered up for the underperforming HHH. While the more balanced attack could be more conducive to playoff success as it will lead to less streaky offensive play, it brings to question whether or not HHH could be considered a bust at this point of his career.
