(Credit and 1 uncapped TPE to @GRZ) It didn't take long, it was Calgary in S2 and S3 and they really should have won in S1 as well. Since then there have been 10 other back-to-back champions, including the Toronto threepeat, despite a 20-season gap between Davos in S24-S25 and Helsinki in S45-S46. Every original VHL franchise other than Vasteras has managed the feat at least once, but no expansion franchise ever has. Of the five goalies picked first in the VHL's first 5 drafts (excluding S1 Supplementary), only one went on to be a Hall of Famer. (Credit and 1 uncapped TPE to @Big Mac) A bit of a random and wordy one, but looks like it was reasonably straightforward. The following goalies were drafted first in the first 5 drafts: S1 - Robert Sharpe, very famously first overall - make sure to ask @Beketov about it (or just read this solid article about it). He did not get into the HOF although the next 2 goalies drafted, Pogge and Desny, did. S2 - Sexy McSexington, way down in the 3rd round - not a HOFer S3 - Adrian McCreath, one of 3 Hall of Famers picked by Seattle that draft S4 - Bob Toskala, not a HOFer S5 - Greg Eagles, who had a decent career... perhaps @Greg_Di's current incarnation will have better luck. The great Alex Gegeny was only the 3rd goalie picked in this draft.
