1.     What is the next part of your game you would like to work on improving?

 

2.     What part of your game are you particularly proud of?

 

3.     When you look at the stat sheet what are you looking most forward to? Goals? Shot Blocks? PIMS?

1.Defence. I’ve gotta improve in my own end if I want to compete at this level.

2. I like my shot.

3. I like points but I look for how many shots I get.

6. I’m not huge on “Phoenix” but I’ll get over it I’m happy to be here

1.     What is the next part of your game you would like to work on improving?

I'll be trying to improve all around as a player since I've got a long way to go.  But I think I'd say skating and agility.

 

2.     What part of your game are you particularly proud of?

I like my shot-stopping abilities in general, particularly my reaction time.

 

3.     When you look at the stat sheet what are you looking most forward to? Goals? Shot Blocks? PIMS?

Save percentage is probably the big one.  As a rookie on an expansion team that's still building up for the future, I don't really expect much as far as GAA, shutouts, or wins.  Given the relative strength of our team I think I'll be facing a lot of shots this season.  We'll see what happens in the future though.

 

4.     After the home games which of your teammates seems to have the longest lineup for autographs?

Syreck seems to be getting a lot of attention after winning MVP in the VHLM.

 

5.     You get handed the aux cord for the locker room at the pre-game, what song are you putting on?

Common - Chi-City.  We do play in Chicago, after all.

 

6.     How do you feel about the team branding?

I'm not a huge fan of the name "Phoenix" but it's honestly growing on me.  The logo has its quirks but it's not bad and I like the general theme/color scheme.  And I'm glad that Chicago has a team.

1. We don’t have to. We are a young group of guys on a brand new team and we’re all having a good start considering the team.

3. Well I would like to but in the end the fact that I’m even top 3 is amazing I’m happy with my start.

4. Doesn’t matter to me I’m not looking for the outcome I’m looking at how we play.

1. How do we get out of the bottom of the standings?

Just keep earning TPE and steadily improving.  We won't make the playoffs, but I feel like our start is down to the fact that our players are all pretty young.  So if we can all stay active maybe we'll have a shot of moving up a place.

2. How did you get your name?

I wanted to make a Canadian player since I haven't won a World Cup gold medal in a while and I wanted to make the Triple Gold club (although it doesn't mean anything now that I couldn't win a Founder's Cup).  So I ended up going with a French-Canadian player.  Jean-Pierre is just a first name that I liked because I wanted to give my player a very French name.  The last name Camus is a reference to philosopher Albert Camus.

3. Squirrely Dan is 3rd in rookie scoring, can he get number 1?

I think he could considering that our team is kind of lacking in offensive firepower and he's probably more important to our team than most of the other top scoring rookies.  Same goes for Syreck.

4. Howmany losses do you think we will end up with?

Somewhere in the 50-60 range.  Maybe closer to 60.

5. Whats your favourite song?

Das Racist - Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell

6. Who's your favourite player in the league so far?

Well I like Squirrely Dan since he's helping me out with goalscoring haha.

Hang out, do a lot of training. Also try to get back to the family farm for a couple of weeks.

Nice.  Too bad we can't get 69 losses.

Probably reading.  And a lot of practicing, of course

 

3. Whats one part of your game you want to improve?

Skating and Agility.  Probably not quick enough around the net.

 

4. Any questions you have for me?

I mean I could come up with one but it wouldn't be particularly interesting.  So right now probably not, I think.

 

5. If you could only have goals or assists what would you choose?

I'll go with goals.  I think it'd be pretty funny seeing a goalie scoring multiple goals in a season.

 

6. How long do you plan on playing in the league?

With this player I plan to play all eight seasons unless something completely unexpected happens.  I haven't really spent much time as a goalie before so I'd like to stick it out the full career with Camus.  And with the expansion, that means there are more spots for goalies so that helps too.

Difficult call.  As far as time spent, sports games have a lot of replay value for me.  So probably FIFA?  But I like a lot of different games to be honest.

 

2. If you had to play another sport what would it be?

Soccer.  Maybe my favorite sport.

 

3. How hype are you after we won 3 games in a row.

Pretty hype!  I wasn't expecting much so I'll take any moral victories (or, you know, actual victories) we can get.

 

4. Do you collect anything? If yes what is it?

Not much of a collector to be honest.  Maybe more when I was a kid but nothing really now.

 

5. How do we deal with the teams average plus minus being around -30?

Just keep developing.  Make sure our defensive prospects develop well and we could also pick up some great young players in the draft.

 

6. When will Chicago make the playoffs?

Depends on what kind of moves the front office makes and how aggressive you guys plan to be.  I think if we stick with the long-term rebuild focused on youth like we're doing now, S76 seems like a realistic target.

I mean just about all of it to be honest.  I guess I'll just say shot-stopping since I think getting my save percentage up would be beneficial.

 

6. How do you feel about this season?

Wasn't expecting much success in the short-term but I think it's a good start.  We've got some nice building blocks for the future here.

I'm doing Chicago's PC this week bc Miami's requires too much thinking

2. Personally, I think Socks has done really well. Chicago has had a rough start, but I think that as we start getting active players on the ice, that'll turn around.

It's fun.

 

2. How happy are you with this season?

I'm happy with it.  I wasn't expecting us to be good as we're in a rebuild (is this a rebuild? I guess technically we're not rebuilding since we're an expansion team building from the ground up but you get what I mean). But it was nice to see the good moments, and the games where we got wins were enjoyable though.

 

3. If you could live anywhere, where would you choose.

There are a lot of places in the world that I'd love to live, so that's a tough choice.  A bunch of places come to mind.  But yeah, given the current COVID situation, New Zealand would probably be great lol.  Beautiful country too.

 

4. Have you ever thought of buying vhl merch?

Yeah, I've thought about it.  If they had a Vasteras shirt I'd definitely consider buying it.  Or if they had custom shirseys (t-shirt jerseys if you don't know) I'd for sure consider buying one with one of my former players' names on the back.

 

5. Which team has your favourite logo?

That's a tough call.  I like New York's, Malmo's, and Vancouver's.  I guess I'll go with Malmo as my favorite?

 

6. How about your least favourite?

A bit of a left-field pick but I'm not a fan of Moscow's, especially since they got rid of the green color.  Calgary's is another of my least favorites just cause the horse looks bad, but I'll give it a little bit of a pass because of history.  I think LA is probably my least favorite though, personally.  I get the idea of it, and I hope this doesn't sound too mean, but it just doesn't look very professional to me.

At this point probably Seattle.  Although I feel like I have an advantage since I'm answering this a week later than you asked it

Assists, since my player can actually get them.  Although it would've been hilarious to be a goalscoring goalie.

I love snacks so it's hard to pick one.  I'll go with pretzels though.

 

5. Your favourite drink?

I like fruit smoothies.

 

6. What keeps you motivated in the VHL.

The possibility of doing or accomplishing something new.  That's part of why I made a goalie and why I was happy to end up here on an expansion team.
