Xavier leFlamant | Rookie Experience

As the final buzzer of his rookie year sounded, Xavier leFlamant knew he had left too much on the table in terms of what he had to give to the DC Dragons franchise, community, fans, and ownership. A rookie season that saw him frequently in the top 10 for points ended with him falling out just as quickly as he had made his way into it, in an instant. While not much was expected from most of the media out of leFlamant, who was selected 20th overall in the s71 entry draft, he expected more from himself. The Flamingo had high hopes this season, DC was supposed to compete, he was supposed to be a rookie making an impact, instead, he ended up just having his first year go to waste, missing the playoffs, on a DC Dragons team that would go on to win the lottery, not the postseason. Now with expansion, he lost one of his team's best wingers in Guy Lessieur, and he will be expected to help support the team from an offensive, and defensive side more than last year.

What's the biggest difference between the VHL and the VHLM? Well for starters, even though leFlamant played more minutes in the VHL than the VHLM, he scored about a fourth as many goals in the big league as he did in the minors. What's the biggest difference here? The level of play is just outstandingly higher in the VHL versus the VHLM. Xavier seemed to be adjusting well at the beginning of the year keeping pace with rookie sensation SS Hornet, but in the end his production fell off a cliff alongside his team's playoff hopes. The Flamingo finished the season with a measly 19 assists, 1 short of the goal he set out to achieve, which lit a fire under his belly for the upcoming season 73 year. He has a new line where he's projected to play alongside Benny Graves and rookie Groovy Dood. Also coming up this season will be Rookie Defenseman Liam Flatten, who actually played in the same minor league club in Philadelphia as leFlamant. The two share a close bond from those days where Xavier was a team leader, and now with a much younger core, Xavier will have to step up, no more rookie BS for him, he's got to be the player his team needs, even if its just second line minutes and killing penalties. The Flamingo needs to learn to blend in not stand out, and overall, help his team succeed.
