8th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards – S73

Another exciting regular season has come to a close. That means we can dole out some regular season awards! Welcome everyone to the 8th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards honoring S73! Thank you to everyone that reads this. I’m always looking for new award ideas. Please keep the award suggestions coming!

These awards have been created by me. There is no voting process and they are not officially recognized by the VHL Board of Governors. I wrote descriptions for most of these award names in the original award post. Let’s get things underway!

The Pylon Award (worst +/- rating) – Balentine Kidd @TukTukTheGreat  :ldn:

Oh dear. There was a recent trend where the winning minus amount kept getting better and better. Thanks to expansion, we had a complete reset this season. Kidd took home the award and set the all-time low mark for this award with a -74. There were 6 players from London and Chicago at -60 or worse.

The Jason Voorhees Award (most PIM by a Goalie) - Rayz Funk @Rayzor_7 :sea:

Thanks to @gorlab for the perfect suggestion on the title!

Rayz put the rest of the league to shame by winning this award with 27 PIM. It looks like the majority of Rayz’s PIM came from the Abuse of Officials penalty in this game, https://vhlportal.com/VHL/73/VHL73-93.html. Maybe that doesn’t live up to the name of the award, but nowhere in the award rules does it say that you have to murder someone to be eligible to win. Rayz’s PIM total more than doubles the previous top amount. He can feel pretty good about his place in the history of this award.
