1. Have you been watching the World Juniors lately? If so, who are you cheering for? - The US of A, baby! It's extra special for me this year with Flyers prospect Cam York captaining the American prospects this season too.

 

2. What was the best gift you got for Christmas? - Probably a really sweet memory foam mattress pad, I am sleeping so much better with it! On the downside, it's much harder to get out of bed now too. 

 

3. What kind of food did you eat for the holidays? - Ham is the big one, and with our slow cooker, it comes out to perfection every year. Also did some baking as well, and another great batch of cookies this season were produced. 

 

4. How satisfied have you been with your player's performance recently? - Had a career year, but still feel like there's so much production being left on the table for sure. So, satisfied, I guess, but could be better. 

 

5. What do you think of Chicago's big upset (and sweep) of Seattle in the VHL? - That was something I don't think anyone saw coming. They got hot at the right time and took down a historically great Seattle team with ease. That's crazy, that just does not happen... yet it did. 

 

6. Assistant GM a_Ferk went MIA with the presser last week. Where did he go? - I heard there was a WiFi outage, so I assume that was a major part of the problem.

2. What was the best gift you got for Christmas? - A new seat cushion for my computer chair.. it was pretty expensive but worth the money. Helps my back out a lot. 

 

3. What kind of food did you eat for the holidays? - We had brunch with a egg, ham, shredded potato melt thingy. Was delicious!

 

4. How satisfied have you been with your player's performance recently? - Eh wish he was a bit more offensive but I think it boiled down to the team strategy. Just didn't meld with what Battre wanted to do. 

 

5. What do you think of Chicago's big upset (and sweep) of Seattle in the VHL? - I mean anything is possible and it's about time an expansion team did something exciting!

I wish the Phantoms would have mad the playoffs but I did about as much as I could. It could always be better - unless you win a Cup.

Not really. We had a decent change to beat Vegas - came back to make a series of it. The sting will motivate us for next season.

Well, the Reapers already won, but I'm going for the Wild (or my new team) for next season!

 

4.) Where are you hoping to end up next season in either the VHL/VHLM? 

I'd love to be back with the Wild but we'll see how the draft goes. I would really love to contribute in a major way where ever I end up.

The VHL Cup to be honest. I've won the Founder's Cup twice and it's wonderful, but the Continental Cup is the peak.

1. I think going back and just trying to earn as much as possible right away would have been beneficial.

 

2. Neutral, I guess. Doesn't really matter to me about the playoffs after we lost.

1.) Wasn’t really paying attention to how the M postseason ended but thanks for the update. Congrats to the champions I guess. I fully expect to be in that position next year. 
 

2.) I don’t know if it’ll be at a time that’s friendly for me. But I’ll probably catch it on the flip side when alls done. Or somebody calls me and spoils it for me. Im really curious where I end up going.

1. To be honest, no. Philly has never really stood out to me.

The weather has been beautiful here lately and we have an outdoor rink in the field outside our alley so we've skated a fair bit. My 11-year old loves hockey and my 6-yr old picked up skating like it was nothing - even with a hockey stick. He's been twice and looks great!

A lot of people say the Leafs, and I understand that. But i'm pulling for the Canadiens, I think they can do some wonderful things this year.

I mean, I'm American myself so it's nice we actually came out on top. The whole tournament was just a joy to watch.

I play a little bit in my driveway sometimes when I have nothing to do. The pond by my house doesn't get frozen enough to skate on though, so that kind of sucks.

1. Who wouldn't be? It's a fantastic opportunity to get to hit the ice for the first time in the VHLM, and I'm looking forward to getting to prove myself at this level.

 

2. We've got quality all through the roster, but it's hard to look past a guy like Braxton [Hunter]. He dominates in practice, and I expect him to do the same when it is game time.

 

3. Obviously, finding my feet and steadily improving throughout the year. I want to prove that I can make it at this level.

 

4. I think adapting to the new league, new style of play. It's always a challenge for guys such as myself coming over from Europe. 

 

5. Has to be a place called U červeného lva in my hometown of Topolna. They do the best version of the famous Czech dish, svičkova.

1. After being a free agent addition to Sasky last year I recognized that I was a bit out of my depth. Not capitalizing where I could and most importantly not getting pucks in deep. I think this year I'll maximize my potential while winning the half boards. Who wouldn't want that. 

 

2. I'm gonna have to follow the rest and say Hunter. Next.

 

3. Personally I want to limit my PIM's. Having one thumb hurts my poke check game and I can't hamstring the team as much as I did down the stretch.

 

4. I need to get my skating better so I can back skate without tripping on myself.

 

5. I love all supporting all my locals spots so I'm gonna go with Maki. Sushi is the perfect postgame meal.

1. After acquiring goaltender Andrew Bowman, Saskatoon has battled to a 6-11-1 record, on the cusp of playoff positioning. What has bringing Bowman in done for the team?

 

2. With the massive turnover from the Season 75 roster to Season 76, which new pickup for the Wild do you think the VHLM should watch out for?

 

3. After scoring 61 points in Season 75, team captain Braxton Hunter already has 33 points in just 18 games this season. How important is he to Saskatoon's chances this season?

 

4. It's brutally cold in Saskatchewan this time of year, how do you guys manage to stay warm off the ice?

 

5. The Houston Bulls were the concensus favorite to win the Founder's Cup this season, but the Minnesota Storm are quickly turning into a major contender themselves. Do you see another team joining the fight for the top spot in the standings?

 

6. What's something that you feel could really improve the VHLM experience?

1. He's turned our season around. Amazing goaltender who is giving us a chance to win every night

 

2. There's so many guys on the team who can contribute. Obviously I want to be that guy as well.

 

3. He's a star. It's a joy watching him play.

 

4. Coming from the Czech Republic, it's not that bad. Just need to wrap up warm and make sure there's some slivovice about.

 

5. I think it will be between those two teams. I don't know much about the league, but I've heard great things about both those franchises.

 

6. It's been a great start so far. Maybe some more inventive ways to get guys to contribute outside of their team environment, but I'm not really one to comment on that when I've only just joined the league.

Questions for Week of 1/25 - 1/31/21

 

1. After acquiring goaltender Andrew Bowman, Saskatoon has battled to a 6-11-1 record, on the cusp of playoff positioning. What has bringing Bowman in done for the team?

 

He has brought in some stability in the crease and that honestly can do wonders for not only goaltending, but also for the defensive unit and morale throughout the team.

 

2. With the massive turnover from the Season 75 roster to Season 76, which new pickup for the Wild do you think the VHLM should watch out for?

 

I honestly think that Duncan Montana is going to be a massive threat in the league for seasons to come.  His prowess to succeed is what will set him apart and time will only tell until the dividends are more prominent.

 

3. After scoring 61 points in Season 75, team captain Braxton Hunter already has 33 points in just 18 games this season. How important is he to Saskatoon's chances this season?

 

Huge.  Mentioned earlier was the roster turnover in the off-season.  He is going to need to surge forward and continue to push the envelope in order for the team as a whole to become successful.

 

4. It's brutally cold in Saskatchewan this time of year, how do you guys manage to stay warm off the ice?

 

Well I'm not old enough to drink, however... I am old enough for some company in the bed... and there are plenty of ladies the GM brings around the clubhouse.

From this point of view it definitely does feel like a two-headed race when it comes to the top of the class and I don't think that will change much by the end of the season.

Still trying to figure out all the ways to earn capped TPE.  I think I'm right there... But still seem to be searching for things.
