1. TRUE/FALSE: The last two players to lead the league in hits in 3 consecutive seasons were both named Phil (Credit and 1 uncapped TPE to @animal74)

This is indeed true. When the question was initially submitted it meant to highlight that Phil Shankly was the last player to lead the league in hits in 3 consecutive seasons, from S56 to S58. In that time he won 2 cups with Riga, giving him 4 in a fine career. However, since then Phil Marleau has proven to be Shankly reincarnate and along with winning a cup of his own with Riga (in S72), he led the league in hits in all 3 of his final seasons in the VHL. It may not be enough for the HOF either, but puts two @Phil players in the top 9 all-time hitters. Which I find quite ironic given what a wimp Phil Rafter was on the same line as the great hitter David Smalling. Phil is definitely making up for that in his later VHL career.

 

2. Only two players in VHL history have recorded more than an assist per game, Scotty Campbell and who? (Credit and 1 uncapped TPE to @SirRupertBarnes)

Apparently there was some confusion due to David Henman having his career season (S18) listed twice in the portal HOF but fortunately he was not on the list and when in doubt, spreadsheet is king. Japinder Singh is the only other member in this rarefied club, with no one else hitting the 576 assists required to make it on a 8-season career. That said, it was definitely worth checking the players with fewer seasons, as Ryan Sullivan came very close with 500 assists in 504 games. Not close enough though.
