It's virtually a prerequisite for any defenseman looking to achieve immortality in the VHL Hall of Fame, and we have another tight race this season, with three finalists! Will Condor Adrienne @OrbitingDeath win his third Sterling Labatte Trophy and further cement his Hall of Fame legacy? Jeff Downey @JeffD is hopeful that his last season will wrap up with a Labatte Trophy after years of being a bridesmaid with VHL awards. Erik Killinger @Peace put together a well-rounded campaign with the London United, and despite not being a finalist for the Valiq or the Wylde Trophies, he's on the short list for the biggest award of them all for blue liners. The wait is over! The winner of the Sterling Labatte Trophy is... Spoiler Condor Adrienne!! Wrapping up his career in grand fashion, Condor Adrienne rides into the sunset with not only a Continental Cup victory, but an Alexander Beketov Trophy and his third Alexander Valiq and Sterling Labatte Trophies!! His legendary status was already cemented last season, but with a third Labatte and an elusive Continental Cup win, Condor Adrienne will go down as unquestionably the best defenseman of his era, and very possibly as one of the best ever in the VHL. Winning this trophy is not only huge for a goaltender's Hall of Fame chances, but it awards major bragging rights amongst the tendies as well. Season 75 saw four goaltenders rise above the rest of the pack, and are your finalists for the Aidan Shaw Trophy! Ajay Krishna @Hooperorama had a career season, and aims for further accolades with a Shaw Trophy. Jacques Lafontaine @SlapshotDragon turned in another fantastic season, and perhaps his finest yet will net him a Shaw. Jimmy Spyro @DarkSpyro led the league in wins with 41, and the Vancouver netminder showed he's still got what it takes this season! Rounding it out is Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream , who wants to take home both the Clegane and the Shaw Trophies tonight! Which of these four will take home the Aidan Shaw Trophy for the first time tonight? Your winner is... Spoiler Stone Wolski! With a VHL-best in save percentage and GAA, this wound up being an easy call for the voters, as Stone Wolski's banner night continues with a sweep of the Clegane and Shaw Trophies to go with a share of the Dustin Funk Trophy. After steadily improving, it's fair to say now that Stone Wolski has finally broken through and become one of the premiere goaltenders in the VHL! You just get the feeling that the accolades are only going to continue to accumulate from here for DC's franchise netminder! Geoffrey Dee @JeffD elevated his Chicago Phoenix to the playoffs for the first time, with some slick trades resulting in a near-Cinderella type of run. Ryan Jubis @Jubis successfully re-tooled the Calgary Wranglers back to the top of the standings with a Victory Cup season. Roger McWolf @McWolf used some big moves to immediately make his London United a contender as they reached the playoffs for the first time. In what became a theme this season, Damien Walec @.sniffuM took his Warsaw Predators a step beyond this season, as they too reached the playoffs for the first time. Benjamin Zeptenberg's @hedgehog337 Riga Reign didn't make the playoffs, but an incredible rebuild is underway, with his squad playing more of a spoiler than a doormat in Year One of the rebuild. Who's the top suit this season? The winner of the David Knight Trophy is... Spoiler Geoffrey Dee!! Although this is one of the trophies with a very substantial criteria, it was a clear victory for Geoffrey Dee. After quietly assembling a solid core in Chicago, Dee propelled the Phoenix further with more trades, resulting in them catching fire at just the right time. They rode this momentum to earn their first playoff berth, and were just one game away from reaching the Continental Cup Finals. It's a perfect example of what a few shrewd moves can do, and as a result, it's Geoffrey Dee earning bragging rights over his fellow suits this season! Tonight, we recognize the MVP of the S75 Playoffs with the Daisuke Kanou Trophy! Although coming up on the losing end, DC Dragons goaltender Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream was stellar in net, with a .929 save percentage and 10 wins. Grekkark Gyrfalcon @Sharkstrong was equally strong, putting up a .927 save percentage and 12 wins. Ray Sheilds @Zetterberg led the eventual champions with 28 points, including the Cup-clinching goal in Game Six, while Chris Hylands @Hylands scored 14 goals and 27 points to power Malmo's offense throughout the playoffs. So, who's the big playoff hero this year? The Season 75 Daisuke Kanou Trophy winner, and Season 75 Playoff MVP is... Spoiler Chris Hylands! The offensive force that drove Malmo's championship run, Hylands also played a pivotal role in Game Six, scoring the go-ahead goal in the second period, and assisted on what wound up being the Cup-winning goal in the third period. Strong performances like this were routine from Hylands, and without his brilliance during the playoffs, the Nighthawks certainly would have faced a different ending to their season. As a result, Chris Hylands wraps up a great season with the Daisuke Kanou Trophy! Congratulations to Chris Hylands, the Daisuke Kanou Trophy winner and most valuable player of the Season 75 Playoffs! Once again, the VHL community has made their voices heard in choosing who they felt was the most outstanding player in the VHL this season. Six players made the ballot, each having incredible seasons, but the community could only choose one: Condor Adrienne @OrbitingDeath , Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov, Guy Lesieur @KC15, John Merrick @Steve, Andrew Su @Da_Berr, and Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream were the best of the best in the VHL this season, but who did the community feel was the most outstanding player? The count has been stopped! Your winner, receiving 30.3 percent of the votes with 50, is... Spoiler Stone Wolski! It's no coincidence at all that the rise of the DC Dragons to legitimate cup contender and Stone Wolski emerging as an elite goaltender both happened in the same season. Wolski becoming the elite, franchise goaltender that made him the fourth overall pick in Season 71 was the last push that the Dragons' strong roster needed to make the next step, and Season 75 was when it all came together. Times are tough for VHL goaltenders, but that really wasn't the case for Wolski, posting an elite .930 save percentage rarely seen in today's VHL. It's difficult to imagine DC having the same success they did this season without Wolski being so dominant, and the VHL community ultimately agreed. Congratulations to Stone Wolski, the VHL's choice as the most outstanding player of Season 75 and your Brett Slobodzian Trophy winner!! Seven finalists are vying for the biggest individual prize in the VHL this season, and they're names you've all heard tonight! Dagmar Havlova @diamond_ace , Chris Hylands @Hylands, Jacques Lafontaine @SlapshotDragon, Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov, John Merrick @Steve, Andrew Su @Da_Berr, and Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream all put forth exemplary cases to win the VHL's most prestigious honor, but to our voters, there was just one choice. The wait is over, let's crown our MVP! The winner of the Scotty Campbell Trophy is... Spoiler MIKKO LAHTINEN!! A back-to-back VHL MVP, Lahtinen finished just a point shy of breaking 100, but made up for it with an insane 374 hits to go with his 99 points. The catalyst of the Moscow war machine, he finished with 21 more points than Roque Davis, who was second on the team with 78 points. He also had more than double the hits of Oskar Lagesson, the next closest Moscow player with 180. Simply put, if the Menace needed something done, they turned to the reigning MVP to get it done, and for the second straight season, Mikko Lahtinen is your Scotty Campbell Trophy as VHL MVP! Congratulations on becoming the first back-to-back MVP since Gabriel McAllister in Seasons 60 and 61, Mikko!
