McGriddy10 reacted to Mysterious_Fish in Personal Goals Complete?!
With the S90's regular season ending tomorrow I should talk about my personal goals that I had this season.

Eric White Jr has had a weird season but the main goals were to get 100+ points and 50+ goals. While at the time that I am writing this I have obtained 52 Goals tied for first in Goals in the VHLM with none other than @FrostBeard's player Grimgor Ironhide and with the Marlins having three games left and the Hounds having 2 games left I may be able to takle something that I didnt expect and that is getting the Alexander Chershenko Trophy for most goals in the VHLM. That isn't important as that isnt a personal goal for this season. Eric White Jr has also obtained 100 points and is 6th in points right now, three points behind the 5th place player Sebastian Thunder @Matt thunder again Miami has played 70 games and only have two games left.

Well my goals are complete but now the new secondary goal of getting the Alexander Chershenko Trophy is on the table.

Well time to focus on the last three games and hopefully with the wonderful mentorship from @McGriddy10 this season I may get that secondary goal complete.

The San Diego Marlins are actively in a vicious three way fight for the top seed in the VHLM and the Prime Minister's Cup alongside the Mississauga Hounds and the Mexico City Kings. We will let other qualified writers speak on the other two teams' star players and their playoff chances. Today we will be highlighting the three players who are above and beyond the rest on a very strong Marlins roster who will give their team the edge over the rest for the Prime Minister's and Founder's cups.

@Mint - Sjin is the first line Center and the most complete player on the team. A Bentz trophy Candidate, Sjin leads the league in goals with 41 on the year so far and is two points shy of leading the league in points. With a +46 for the year so far and spearheading the top penalty kill in the league, it would be hard to argue any player in the M is more built for the playoffs than the Marlins' Captain. Not to mention this will be the fourth consecutive VHLM playoff appearance for the S86 champion. This is a player who has a shot at the Ethan Osborne, Alexander Chershenko, and Matt Bentz trophies respectively. This outstanding performance could very well earn him the Mitch Higgins MVP trophy should he win even two of the three previously mentioned.

@McGriddy10 - Brad Marchand will be entering his second consecutive playoff appearance in his second year within the show. Marchand greatly improved is offensive production since the previous year. (S87 11G 17A 28P) Now sits at 39G 37A for 76P in 66 games on the season. Reducing his time in the box from 36 PIM to 22, Marchand has become an offensive cornerstone for the team's second line at only two goals shy of the league lead, which again so happens to be another Marlins' player. Averaging two hits per game, Marchand has come into his own. And if he keeps to his namesake, we'll certainly have some borderline antics in at least one of the coming playoff series.

@fonziGG - Olivier Gauthier has blossomed this year into a full fledged Benoit Devereux caliber goaltender. With 45 wins in 66 games holding a .926 save percentage, teams can fully expect to be robbed of surefire goals by an absolute wall in-between the pipes. Gauthier has set the Marlins' record for both wins and shutouts during this run and could still pass the 50 win mark on the season. With a now rounded out blue line in front of him his numbers should greatly improve from last year's .897 save percentage in the S87 playoffs.

These three specifically were highlighted due to their experience and regular season play. It should come to no surprise to anyone who has watched the Marlins' games this year, and it is expected their success and contribution should continue in the post season. Should the Marlins win S88 you will absolutely see these three in contention for the Skylar Rift trophy amongst the other hardware this team is expected to collect. Regardless of where these players end their career seasons, Marlins GM @Arce should be nothing but proud for his hand in developing this team.

It's no secret that great leadership is the glue that holds any team together. Whether that be a real world sports team, a workplace environment, or even here in the VHL. Today I would like to highlight a few of the minds that keep San Diego active and thriving.

I'll start from the top and that's none other than @Arce. The old timer's been in the league for a while but that's never killed his enthusiasm for the sims or the players around him. RC makes sure to check in multiple times throughout his busy day, checking in both publicly and privately with members of the team and getting a general feel for what the vibe is that day. As a GM he's fantastic at guiding his AGM to really find his place in the league and learn the ropes. He's often on top of pushing out announcements for our newer and busier players on new TPE opportunities and is all around a very kind and fun guy to interact with.

Speaking of AGM's, first year leader @McGriddy10 has been exceptionally enthusiastic to fill his role. From jumping on trades for players that request them, to keeping his eyes on new players being created throughout the day. Much like our GM, Griddy checks the locker room throughout the day to check out the going conversations and add his two cents on things and answer questions RC may not have time for. A perfect supporting GM for San Diego who will definitely lead a great team one day.

Now we move on to Player Captains. Something not officially holding any power or responsibility, but the ones in San Diego take it upon themselves to take that extra step for the teammates. McGriddy and myself being Alternate captains, I won't beat the hammer too hard on Griddy nor really upsell myself. But @Mint is a class act as a Captain. His player is an eternal M player chasing records, but that doesn't lead him to hiding in the dark until it's time to check his numbers. Always pushing the conversation in the locker room to keep narratives rolling, Sjin is one of the hearts of our discord and team. Often being very inclusive to members of other teams when they would like to join in on what's going on. (Mostly former Marlins). He will also analyze the games with myself to bring new ideas to the GM core for line ideas, changes, and potential pickups. Even getting his friends from his life to join in on our community to expand the love of the league.

As a team of mostly waivers it was entirely possible for the team to slowly reduce itself to IA after IA. And perhaps this all is just the ramblings of an over impressed first season player. But I wanted to use this opportunity to not only earn some TPE, but also appreciate the Marlins organization as a whole. When questions are asked, they're answered. When people need help there's little delay. Players notice things about each others builds and compare notes. The Marlins dish out guides, spreadsheets, and forum pages on how to improve from other members of the community. They give each other kicks in the pants when they're being lazy about earning that week.

Again, it may be just rambling or boasting to most of you, but this is what I firmly believe to be the secret to the success of the Marlins this year. From top to bottom everyone involved in the organization is excited and involved in the most important part (In my eyes) of the VHL, community.

Want to thank @vincentlg2007 for his patience and my AGM @McGriddy10 for taking the initiative on this and bringing it to our war room, then closing the deal. Love the fact my AGM was able to get valuable experience and did a great job doing so. We wish @Enragednothing but the best. He wanted to switch it up which I completely respect as giving our new members the best experience is the goal here in the VHLM. We will miss you,  you were a valuable part of our top 6. Best of luck in Mississauga!
