diacope 1,696
GAMES 1 - 13 2-3-0 - 17 GF, 17 GA O. VIKINGSTAD P. TALLINDER K. KANKKUNEN Team Nordic floats away from the current after some choppy waves in the first 5 games and every Viking is on their game as they oar faster and faster trying to compete their voyage to the World Cup. Things started off hot with a huge 6-0 victory against Team World (three 1st period goals) and a Odin worthy performance from Ola Vikingstad who scored 4 on 6 shots, played over 31 minutes, won 75% of his draws, had a hit a period and was the only player to play more than 10 specialty team minutes. The Vikings must of tired themselves out and sat at sea for the next 2 games losing games against the Mercenaries and Canada. In the game against the Mercs we saw Nordic get off to a hot start and Vikingstad get another marker but the rest of the team couldn't find a plank to stand on and was swimming around like ducks throwing spears and knives everywhere, letting the Mercs takeover the ship and eat all of our supplies, easily winning the overall game, 4-2. In the game against Canada, the team was starving, starving for goat legs and starving for another victory but that wouldn't happen.. The Canadians robbed the Vikings for anything they had left and gave them another 4-2 defeat, the only notable contributor was Patrick Tallinder who had 2 assists. It was getting hopeless after the uplifting ceremonies before leaving, they started to think about family more but the leader Mikko Lathtinen spoke up and uttered something like "NORDIC NORDIC NORDIC", it inspired a few other Vikings to stand up, a few more after that until the fleet was drinking back some ale and hunting seagulls for food, some even used rope on their spears to catch swordfish, it was a very uplifting feast that could only lead to a steady ride the rest of the way. They continued to oar for the next few days until they ran into the Americans, it was a hard fight at first and both teams fought hard but Nordic would end the night victorious, we see a another solid performance from Vikingstad in this one but by far the best Viking was Tallinder who climbed the Americans crow's nest pole and launched a rocket from the top right into Team USA's engine to give us the victory in the mighty shootout, winning 4-3. Nordic wasn't happy for long and they aim the fleet right into the Mercenaries direction once again, this time they didn't easy on us and left most of our boats empty after the battle defeating us 6-3, Tallinder stepped up once again with 3 points and scored a pair of goals with 11 shots on net, truly giving it his all but it wasn't enough and the Vikings started to get sea sick from the roller coaster ride they've been on. GAMES 14 - 24 3-0-0 - 13 GF, 7 GA M. LAHTINEN Z. DRIVER P. TALLINDER The prayers to Odin must be working because in the next 3 games we see the Vikings set sail for victorious plunders winning 3 in a row. In the first game and after many blessings plus a new wardrobe for his promotion in his tribe, Tallinder continued his success being the team's best player, scoring the only 2 goals in the teams 2-0 victory but the props definitely goes to Zamboni Drive who took over the match up and gave his team the win against Western Europe. All the shieldwalls were working and arrows were lighting perfectly for Team Nordic as they outshot (52 shots) and played strong in a rematch against Team Canada, an exciting war where we saw Vikingstad, Tallinder (another 10 shots) and famous Earl Lahtinen get a couple of points each but nobody was trying to defend the engine or oars, good thing a storm would come in to calm the barrage of bodies hitting the sea floor and a shootout was announced. Lahtinen shoots a few spears at the front of the ship, he hits! Whose this? Oh shit it's the old Earl Ray Shields, he goes in for a battle axe to engine, he sinks the Canadians! Nordic wins 5-4. In following game and the last war witnessed thus far, Team Nordic would prep and rally themselves up for another victory going up against a team they shutout at the beginning of the tournament as they inch closer and closer to the World Cup, Team World. Probably one of the best performances as a whole, every period they scored a few goals, almost everybody got a point, the Earls were flying around like gods (Lahtinen lead the way with 4 points) and amazing goaltending which propelled Team Nordic to an easy 6-3 victory. 800 words, I tried to write a VHL.com article..
