What if Guy LeGrande and Aleksander Rodriguez did not leave Boris the forest alone in NY?

Recommended Posts

When Guy LeGrande, Aleksander Rodriguez and Boris the forest played together in their sophomore season in the S66 VHL, they were a very good trio with a very bright future, but drama came along leaving NY in yet another miserable era.

Guy LeGrande

He was a very talented d-men who was purely offensively minded. I remember him not being happy by not getting a point in a 6-2 W for our team, but got happy if he got 2 points in a 5-2 L. He had 18 goals that year with 75 points and a +4 on a rebuilding team. 7 of his goals were from the PP and had himself 157 blocked shots as well. He did everything a offensive d-men would love to do and it was enough for him to get the Dustin Funk Throphy.

Afterwards?

He got traded to the Seattle Bears, where he did not do anything special individually (beside 91 poitns in his last season, but he changed his position into a winger so), but he was carried by the great Banacock to two Continental Cup.

Is he a HOF? Probably not, but he is one of the best ''role'' player that any team would want. He might have had HOF numbers by staying in NY, but the rings? Rings is all that matters at the end of the day.

Aleksander Rodriguez

His only great season was with NY when he was with Guy LeGrande and Boris the forest, he had 2 goals and 68 points as a playmaker with 188 hits even though he was benched for the last week of the regular season. He never won any individual awards, but he was proud of being a top 6 player that could help any team in need.

Afterwards?

Rodriguez was a journey men in the VHL. He got drafted by Riga and when he was ready to step into the VHL, he got traded to NY and played 2 seasons over there before leaving because of drama since he thought the team was tanking on purpose because of some questionnable lines combination over the season, signed to Malmo in hope of helping Matt Thompson win the cup and than played 3 seasons for them until he got traded to Seattle, reuniting with Guy LeGrande, where he went on a tear and was a MVP as a forward getting 10 goals (4 game winning goals between the conference finals and the finals) and 18 points in 17 games. Afterwards signed with a young and upcoming HSK team that was hoping to make a decent run in the playoff.

Rodriguez only had a couple of good moments, but he is happy to win a ring in the VHL before retiring. Making him not regretting NY at all.

Boris the forest

He had 32 goals and 66 points that season. Not a lot to say to be honest, since tose numbers are expected for a number 1 center in a rebuilding team. He was also the 10th pick of the draft.

Afterwards?

He has not won a single team nor individual award in the VHL. Poor boris, left alone in NY while the others are competiting in the playoff. He had some 30 goals PPG seasons, which are better than rodriguez and guy legrande, but who cares about numbers if you can't make the playoff and

prove that you can lead a team to the promise land. He finally got traded to DCD which he also had 30 goals seasons, but nothing afterwards.

He was a great Center that can score goals, but nobody can do it all alone when it comes to team sucess.

What if thet stayed together?

That one season is enough to see the offensive potentiel that NY could of had and maybe have a chance at the cinderalla cup story.

They also had A Red Guy, who has a very amazing career for NY. With more help on offence, maybe he could of led the team for a shot at the cup. I mean the dude had a .928 save percentage in his last season even though he had 29 Ls.

They also had Lance Flowers, who was one of the best defensive d-men the VHL had at the time. He won the Jake Wylde award as a rookie my god.

They also had Dalton Wilcox who had a stellar season alongside Rodriguez and Boris. 34 goals in his first season, but only had more than 31 goals once after that season.

Owen Nolan as well. He became a great player later in his career, but that's another 30 goals scorer they had.

So if NY kept all these guys together. They would of had an amazing goalie with one of the best offensive d-men in S68 with one of the best defensive d-men in the league in their lineup.

While having Rodriguez, Boris and Wilcox playing together and still have Owen Nolan as another scoring option. Nethila Dissanayake as well, which he proven to be a 30 goal scorer TOO.

Would NY for sure win the cup at least once with this team? Probably nothing, but having that goalie, those 2 amazing d-men and that forward depth. It would of been scary to face.

Instead, they are still miserable until right now. Is Red Lite the savior that they have been awaiting? We shall see, but if this is another flop in this era. Oh my goodness change everything about NY.

*Salary cap off*

I'm still 90 words off of 1k words so I'm going to add a bunch of random shit lmao. Playing in the madison square garden was great. Boris the forest was a very chill captain, guy legrande always pushed everyone to be good, a red guy was just uhh there, and the GMs are... doing GMs things. If there was no drama than maybe NY would of had a glimmer of light in those very dark times.

With this, I have 1k words and I wish everyone a good weeké
