John Baard, after being traded from Ottowa to the San Diego Marlins, has created an initiative to help underprivileged Ottowa Children through a sweater donation system. The idea first came to him when he was trying to figure out what he was going to do with his old sweaters he always wore under his pads to keep out the Ottawa cold. The first beneficiary of this effort is one such child, who goes by the name of Xue Pao Bing Bong who has received 37 pairs of unwashed double extra large branded Ottowa Lynx sweaters. The shipment also came with a note saying, "maybe these will help you hit the net and not the refs." This is in reference to a game in the recent past where Bong missed the goal so much that he struck a referee in the head and has since been left in a coma at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
