MISSISSAUGA - The Hounds have been hot. Really hot. They have won 37 games so far and are sitting atop the VHLM standings. They are currently 9 points away from the second place team, the Saskatoon Wild. This team is filled with future MVPs and stars. Mississauga is loaded with goal scorers, elite passers, defensive stalwarts, and more. Today we are going to highlight another aspect of this team. The physicality. Three players on this team are in the top ten hits list for the VHLM. Tony Adams, Sven Eightnine, and Sigard Petrenko. Oh, and don’t forget to mention that they are currently sitting one, two, and three on the leaderboard.

“I didn’t expect to hit as much as I did but it just seemed to work for me.” Sigard Petrenko said with a laugh. “I guess I’ve become the Tom Wilson of the Mississauga top line. I get assists but most importantly, I use the body effectively. I don’t mind being a more physical player. Quite satisfying whenever I am able to pull a good body check off.”

Is this sudden burst of physicality contributing to the Mississauga Hounds being on the penalty kill a lot? Without a doubt. But it also has made Mississauga one of the toughest teams to play against skill-wise and roughness-wise.
