The Tanky Story

Everybody has a point in their career where they start thinking of their next player. Huge aspirations usually come out of this, a max earner, a cup winner, a hall of famer. Or in my case, the biggest goon the league has ever seen. Tanky.

I'm not sure when the original idea of Tanky "Mctankface" was born but it was most likely around half-way through my first player, Hulk Hogan's career. The very first mention of Tanky on the forums was in June 2020, but I'm sure the idea was already in my mind before that. Up to that point Hogan had been a solid player with the Bears but I was finalizing what my final build would look like and was reaching sort of a boring point in my career. Luckily, the Seattle environment is outstanding with the people there and they managed to keep me updating and active every week. Around my 6th season of Hogan I pretty much dropped all forum activity, only getting my TPE then going over to discord to talk there. That was the point where I looked forward the most to Tanky.

My final season of the VHL I had already decided to take a little break for the league after I retired Hogan. Seattle knew this, I had told them my idea was to retire, take a one or two month break and return on Christmas, to be the greatest gift of them all. The league however, did not know this. I had announced I would retire if Hogan did not win his fifth cup, which he didn't. That day I retired. It was a great run in Seattle. I won four cups and ended up with the second most points among my entire class. Pretty good for a meme creation that ended up with 1500 tpe.

I would still occasionally check in on the league just to see what was happening. I had random accounts in the discord and I'd log onto them occasionally or check the forums in incognito mode. That was all fine until one day I accidently logged onto my actual account. I figured I needed a way to explain this so I did the only way I know how. @ing members. I asked everyone league wide how to stop getting emails (as I was getting them every single time somebody created). I figured that was a good enough excuse as to why I logged in. By the end of November I figured I'd leave a little hint, joining the discord as user 2525252525 to signify my return on the 25th of December. Some people thought it meant I'd return in 25 days, December 18th, but when that day passed people realized it was Christmas. On Christmas day Santa delivered the greatest gift in centuries when the greatest to ever do it returned. I created Tanky. After that I started to "earn TPE" with a mix of welfare, 12 cap weeks and sometimes just forgetting to update completely. In no way is this meant to be a knock towards welfare players, but it's just not who I am. Tanky was drafted to Minnesota, where he was immediately flipped to Saskatoon for Logan Moore a second. Tanky's two seasons in Saskatoon were what I hoped would be a glimpse into the future, but turned out to be the highlights of his career. In Tanky's second season he was named captain of the Saskatoon Wild. A great honour. According to the portal, Tanky holds the record for third most hits in a VHLM season and is the record holder for penalty minutes with both the first and second spot on the list.

"With the 35th pick in the season 77 draft the New York Americans are not proud to select from the Saskatoon Wild, Tanky."

Tanky's two VHL seasons weren't great, or good. With a total of 20 points in 144 games Tanky lacked in the offensive zone, which was expected. His greatest qualities should've been in fighting and hitting, except he only had 9 career fights and 348 hits (a pretty good number for an average player but not for one with 99 checking.) I really didn't want to play two seasons with New York, asking for a trade and even to just be benched if one couldn't be made. I didn't want to drag my teammates down any more than one season, as I originally planned to move teams constantly. During Tanky's second season the trade deadline passed, marking the prime time to create a player. I decided to put down my creation so I could return to what I once was. I created Hulk Hogan 2.

I want to end this main part by apologizing to the players of New York. It's hard to know how much I dragged them down, but with constant penalty minutes its safe to say a decent amount. I really wished I didn't have to spend both seasons there and bring everyone down. With that being said, I see a very good future in that team. There's a lot of young players in New York who may not be seeing success right now, but with everyone updating and working together I'm sure that team will. Specifically this apology goes out to Tate, who to this day I've never done a single good thing for. One day I promise you brother we will be the greatest one two punch in the league.

And now I move onto Hulk Hogan 2, a player who I will update more on, and a player I will be genuinely good with now that I know what I'm doing. And a player who will follow the original Hogan into the hearts of millions of fans and the Hall of Fame. Tanky may not have ended how I wanted it, but it happened. To everyone who said Tanky would never make it, or that I'd reroll, fuck you. Hulkamania lives on brother brother and I'll see your asses crying on the opposing bench when I was 4 more cups ooh yeah.
