Going to other side of the world to play ice hockey in the best minor league in the world was not an easy decision, but that was where Matt's future was and he understood it. From the outside it might have seen like Matt had no troubles with adjusting to the new world and environment around him and he was all work and game of ice hockey, but although partially true, it did not go without some inner battles. It took Matt couple of weeks until he was more or less fine and even happy about where he was. It definitely became easier when he signed the contract with Wilds, therefore he knew he is safe financially and he will be taken care of while he's there. Then the competition came started to bother his mind. He was put on 2nd line, so he had some shoes to fill. With all the hard work, still, his knees were shaking before every game, right until he stepped on the ice. The first push off the ice, picking up the speed and feeling the wind blowing into his face, calmed him down and that's it, he was set. Now when the regular season is finished and looking back at Matt's individual stats, you can tell that he is fine and did very well for his very first season in this league!
