First attempt ever of something like this

This is great for your first attempt. It looks like you took a lot of time to create a custom goalie mask which is very unique. I haven't seen someone do that before in my short time here, probably because it takes a lot of skill and effort. I really would love to see your work as the centre point of the graphic rather than the team logo though. I think the mask was done so well that it could stand as a graphic on its own. I'd also recommend experimenting with some interesting fonts. Since you used a black background, almost any text will show up well. It looks like you were going for a fire look with the text colour. I love that idea, but with the actual font being flames.
