SEATTLE - Sigard Petrenko was one of the few rookies that played in the Victory Hockey League big leagues this year. He was on the lower end in terms of rookie results but showed some promise. The young winger was able to score 22 goals and 15 assists for a respectable total of 37 points in his first VHL season. While it is not that impressive and not much to look at, it showed that Sigard had potential on the VHL stage. 20+ goals as a rookie is nice and Sigard showed the Bears that he could be gritty and score when needed. Sure, his stats show an offensive struggle in Sigard’s game but his physicality and his ever-improving shot will hopefully change that either next season or in the seasons to come. Named an Alternate Captain for the Seattle Bears in the 80th Season of the league, Sigard definitely feels the pressure to be better for the team.

“I mean, pressure or no pressure, I was entrusted with a fairly large role in this league and I intend on fulfilling this role for the Seattle Bears. I mean, I’ve learned so much in this first season and this team definitely has a bright future. Aksu Maronen and hopefully Em Em Flex will make an excellent duo. This team’s core is developing well. I’m aiming to work as hard as I can and make sure I don’t stay stagnant in my development and bring this team down with me.”
