Oskars Harumpf is skating well for Saskatoon.

Newly signed playmaking center Oskars Harumpf is finally getting his legs under him in the VHLM on his new team. After joining the Saskatoon Wild last week, he has now played in 7 games and is having a small but important impact so far. Harumpf has managed 2 points, both of which are goals in 7 games played. That's a bit surprising being that he is a playmaker, but he's happy to help the team and get on the scoreboard any way he can. More importantly Harumpf has helped Saskatoon win 6 of those 7 games he's played in. He's been putting in a lot of practice hours and the coaches have rewarded him with more ice time. Harumpf has recently been moved up to 2nd line center and has also been added to the penatly killing unit. As his skills get updated he should be able to have even more of an impact on the ice.

We caught up with Oskars Harumpf and asked him about his first week in the league.

So Oskars, how does it feel to be a member of the Saskatoon Wild?

- I'll be honest, it's amazing. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and have been totally supportive. I can tell this is a great organization and I'm thrilled to be a part of it.

You've been lucky to join one of the best teams in the VHLM, how does that feel?

- The Saskatoon Wild are a well-oiled machine. They're record speaks for itself, but being a part of it first hand is really special. I mean, we won 6 of the 7 games I've played in. That's not me, that's the team. They're incredible, I'm really lucky to be a part of it and just want to do a small part to help them win.

What do you expect of yourself going forward?

- I just want to play my role well and try and help this team win a championship. I think I'm getting comfortable out there and with the hard work I've been putting in, I expect to see my game pick up in the coming weeks. I think I can become close to a point per game player as the season progresses. Wins are the most important though. Personal accolades are always second.

Well Good luck the rest of the season Harumpf, we'll be watching you.

- Thanks, I'll be the guy skating through people's legs. ;)

Well it's obvious Harumpf is beginning to get the feel of the VHLM. He's playing well and should only continue to improve. So far in his 7 games, he has those 2 goals, but also has 7 hits, 7 shots, 4 pims and 4 blocks. He's been decent on face offs with a 43.68 Winning %, but that should improve given the practice time he's put in recently. He's averaged just over 17 minutes of ice time per game so far, that number should also see a slight increase now that's he's been moved up to the 2nd line and added to the penalty kill unit.

League experts are predicting Oskars Harumpf will be close to a point per game by the end of the season and should become an imporant piece of Saskatoon's playoff run. With continued improvement, the diminutive Danish playmaker could be on his way to stardom.
