Name: Tyler Cote

Height: 6' 2”

Weight: 208

Age: 20

From: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Position: Center

Current Team: Moscow Red Wolves

After dropping all the way to the 8th spot in the VHLM Disperal Draft to Moscow, Tyler Cote felt he had something to prove. And about half way through his first full season, Cote is showing signs of becoming a prominent player in the VHL. The newest player out of the Ball Hard Player Agency, there was a good amount of hype following the young Canadian, but unfortunately has hasn't quite lived up to the expectations bestowed upon him at the beginning of the season. A great two way center and the captain of the Red Wolves in S39, Cote has not gotten off to a great offensive start in S39. But even though the offense isn't quite there for the young center, he has been phenomenal defensively and has provided a spark to keep a struggling Moscow team afloat in the European Conference. Cote leads the VHLM in both hits and penalty minutes thus far in S39 and if he can get the offense clicking, you can expect big things for this young man.

Tyler is fighting, literally and figuratively, to become not only the top player in his draft, but a top tier player in the VHL.

Strengths:

Tyler is as aggressive a player as they come as you can see by his hits and penalty minute totals. He is not afraid to throw the body and get down and dirty if it means he can swing the momentum in his team's favor. This plays brilliantly into his leadership role with the Red Wolves this season. When his teammates see him sacrificing himself and leaving it all on the ice, they cannot help but want to give him 100 percent with every shift. Tyler is also a gym rat and has an elite level work ethic. If he is not at practice, you can either find him in the gym or playing pick up games wherever he can find one. He was offended after he dropped so far in the draft and with that chip on his shoulder, Tyler has vowed that he will not stop until he is recognized as one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Weaknesses:

While he has performed phenomenally in the defensive zone, Tyler has not been able to find the offense that made him a star in the OHL. Usually a brilliant passer, he has look very shaky when attempting to set up his teammates in the offensive zone. Tyler seems very uncomfortable when on the attack and has not shown that he can carry an offense as a star player should. His aggressiveness, while probably the biggest asset for Tyler so far this season, has continued to be his downfall this season. He has taken to many bad penalties trying to light a fire under his teammates when they need him the most. Furthermore, Tyler lacks that killer instinct that all of the greats had before him. In big moments in a game, it looks as if Tyler would rather give it up to someone else to make a play and that is odd for a player of his caliber. If he wants to become more than just a decent player in the VHL, he will need to develop that sense of entitlement, that “when the game is on the line, nobody will run this offense besides me” mentality.

The Future:

The future looks bright for Tyler as he embarks on his VHL journey. While it is no secret that the Ball Hard Player Agency has backed some less than stellar players in the past, they believe they have finally found a diamond in the rough with Cote and have backed him up 100% of the way. If he can keep up his work ethic and maintain the fire in his very core, there is no way to stop Tyler from becoming one of the elite players for years to come.

705 words. A solid Rookie Profile here. Obviously you documented Cote's struggles offensively, but defensively you've been a gem and I think that is something to move forward with into the VHL. Great writing here and a really good profile.
