Tate 450
Vancouver, BC - Canada The press conference room is alive with casual conversation while the group of reporters awaits the arrival of the Vancouver Wolves administration. Today is an exciting day in the history of the Wolves franchise as Vancouver is expected to introduce their new top draft selection, Brandt Fuhr. The rookie goaltender is destined to fill the void left by the recently retired Thadius Sales and the bar is quite high for Fuhr should he ever expect to reach the same heights as the previous tender. The room quiets as the door leading to the conference opens and in walks the management team of the Wolves, however, noticeably absent is Brandt Fuhr. The reporters pick up on the confusion from the administration as they look back for their promising star, certain that he had been following behind them only moments before. The assistant to the General Manager quickly walks back through the door in which they came while the remaining management members take their seats at the press conference table. After several minutes the assistant to the General Manager emerges from the hallway with a look of absolute worry on his face. The assistant moves fast to the side of his manager and whispers in his ear. The General Manager of the Wolves, Nyko, does his best to hide his surprised look while he hears the news, and after a lengthy explanation Nyko shifts slightly so that he can speak into the microphone in front of him, “It would appear,” he starts to say before he nods in the direction of his assistant, dismissing him, “That our prospect is lost.” A loud commotion fills the room as reporters discuss this revelation. A hand is thrown up in the crowd as a reporter calls out a question, “Will he still be attending the conference?” Nyko nods slightly, “We hope so.” “Do you know where he is?” Nyko hesitates for a moment before he shakes his head, “We believe he’s still in the building.” Another hand is thrust up from another reporter, “Was he aware of the press conference?” Nyko nods, “Oh yes, he was. In fact, he only went missing before we stepped into the room.” “Is it possible he was kidnapped?” Nyko shakes his head furiously, “No, I don’t believe so, of course not.” “What are your expectations for Brandt Fuhr?” Nyko thinks about the question for only a moment before he answers, “We see him in Vancouver at the start of next season. We want to give him every opportunity we can to grab a hold of the starting job, but we’re not going to give it to him. Every Wolf has to earn their place in the pack.” Suddenly the assistant to the General Manager approaches Nyko again, and whispers once more in his ear, “You’re kidding,” Nyko says to the assistant with his statement being caught by the microphone. The assistant shakes his head, indicating he is not kidding. Nyko rubs his forehead for a moment in clear frustration before he leans back into the microphone in front of him, “We’re sorry everyone, but it would appear as though Fuhr has left the building. We will have to reschedule.” Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/118896-brandt-fuhr-rookie-experience/ Share on other sites
