It has been a grueling year of travel for Kez Kincaid, the S37 Draftee. After 2 seasons in Turku, playing for the Outlaws, Kincaid began S39 playing in the VHL, for the Cologne Express, the team which drafted him 19th overall. Many had expected him to be a career minor-leaguer, as his development lagged behind many others, not only in his own draft class, but in subsequent ones as well. Many scouts questioned his work ethic, and some media pundits felt he spent too much time sipping Guinness in local pubs rather than practicing on the ice. However, Cologne was a team without a lot of players to put on their roster, and Kincaid found himself playing almost by default.

Nonetheless, it was an auspicious start for the Irish youngster as he was part of an overachieving squad which, despite all expectations of being one of the lower-tier teams, found themselves with a winning record and a potential playoff spot - which sounds good until you realize they were trying to tank and secure a lottery pick!

Kincaid played in 32 games for the Express, notching 8 goals and 6 assists for 14 points, with a +9 rating. Not mind-blowing, but certainly encouraging for the rookie. However, the team's management felt it was best to ship Kincaid back to Turku and get on with losing! Interestingly, in the 32 games in which Kincaid played, the Express had a 20-11-1 record - in the 32 games since he left, the team's record is 14-15-3 ... clearly the strategy of getting him off the team helped the team reach their goals of finishing near the bottom!

Nonetheless, Kincaid found himself headed back to Turku. He played in 17 games for the Finnish squad, racking up 17 goals and 13 assists. Hefty numbers on a squad which was dwelling in the bottom rungs of the league ladder. But his stay was short-lived, as soon enough, Turku sent the skilled centerman off to Saskatoon in a trade, receiving two 3rd-round picks from the Wild. With the team having no hopes of making the playoffs, it only made sense for the Outlaws management to ship him off as a rental player to a team with designs on winning it all, and get back what they could in hopes of a rebuilding season in S40.

Kincaid's production for the S'toon team has maintained pace, as he has, to this point, also played 17 games for the Wild, notching 12 goals and 15 assists as the team makes a late surge, clinching a playoff spot and gunning for first place overall. At the time of this article, the Wild are only 4 points back of the league-leading Blades, with a game in hand. Kincaid himself is rolling with an 11-game point-scoring streak. One suspects that if he had spent the entire season in the VHLM, he would be amongst the leading scorers in the league.

Clearly, the hours he has spent on various planes criss-crossing the globe, going through multiple customs lines, sleeping in terminals and lurking in airport lounges has not hindered his game or his progress. From Germany to Finland to Saskatchewan and all the stops in between, Kincaid has kept on top of his game. It will be his last stop for the time being however, at least until the season is over. But for next season? At this point, it is expected that he will return to Cologne and begin his VHL career in earnest, and help the team get back to their winning ways. However, you never know! Better not put away that airmiles card just yet, Kincaid!

606 words. I'm not sure why you lapsed in motivation to do point tasks, cause this was a very well-structured Media Spot. It was interesting to hear your view on the well-travelled season, but we're glad to have you aboard and hopefully we can help each other win the Founder's Cup.

Grammar: 2/2

airmiles = Air Miles

Nothing great, but at least you had a couple pictures.
