Well apparently the answer is Yes. Despite being only 5'5" Oskars Harumpf has become quite the hitter. in 37 games he has 47 hits. Not bad for a diminutive playmaker who was thought to possibly be a physical liablity at this level. So far Harumpf has been surprisingly physical, throwing more than a hit per game. He's been using his 250 pound frame to his advantage and is kind of a like a bowling ball on the ice. Harumpf has been killing people on the forecheck in the corners. With his weight and speed combination, he's not someone you want coming in on you if you're a defenseman going into the corner for a loose puck. He obviously has a low center of gravity and when he hits you, you'll remember it. It should be noted that Harumpf is doing all this with literally no points put into checking. It's just his natural ability based off his weight that is allowing him to throw the body at a pretty good clip. In fact, he has more hits in 37 games that many other taller players on the Wild who have played 60+ games. This proves that weight, not height is the contributing factor to checking in this league. Oskars Harumpf has just found anothe edge to his game. The future is looking bright.
