Moving Forward

It was an exciting regular season for Ronan Lavelle and the DC Dragons. The Dragons finished up top of the North American Conference with 101 points. Lavelle had a big rebound season finishing with 98 points, more than doubling his previous season's total. Lavelle had the honor of being linemates with Duncan Idaho during his final season. Lavelle and Idaho tore it up on the ice together. You saw their names plenty on the score sheet. It certainly helped Lavelle's production. But Lavelle also helped Idaho close out his career in a big way. The only thing was they just couldn't get it done in the playoffs. The Dragons got stunned by the defending champion Seattle Bears, who managed to take the Dragons down in 5 games. Lavelle managed to record 10 points in 9 games but does any of that matter when you lose? No one remembers that. Now the Dragons find themselves in an uncertain position. First off they need to secure UFA's Taylor Mourning and Poopy Peepants if they want to have a shot at competing again. Then, they need to fill big shoes with Idaho's retirement. The Dragons have thin assets for S85, and essentially a non-existent prospect pool. They will have to turn to their S86 assets if they hope to strike a deal for another productive forward if they are not able to address the need in free agency. The Dragons can surely be competitors again no doubt with franchise goaltender Bubbles Utonium locked up, Lavelle around for at least another 2 season. They also have Sova for one more season, as he hopes to build off his best season yet. There are a lot of questions heading into the S85 off-season, what does GM Eno Rama have in mind?
