JetsGoalie101 33
From the outside it appeared that everything was going terrifically well for Sunglasses Joyo during his first VHLM season with the Halifax 21st. Joyo scored 81 points in the 63 games he played with the team, and led the VHLM during the playoffs in both goals and points while the Halifax went on an impressive run to the finals (ultimately falling to the Las Vegas Aces). The former Halifax center also received votes for the Matt Bentz trophy and the Skylar Rift trophy. It appeared that both the player and the team would have a lot to be happy about, but then came the press conference... A press conference that only had one rule enforced for their dress code: No sunglasses allowed. A not-so-subtle message about why both managers of the Halifax 21st resigned following season 84, and why Sunglasses Joyo was forced to leave the city and enter 3 separate drafts during the offseason. So what is it that went so wrong in Halifax? Was it Sunglasses Joyo's boyish charm? Did the rest of the team secretly hate sunglasses and players that wear them? Were there bad vibes on the team after Sunglasses Joyo's night terrors kept everyone up all night on road trips? We can only speculate, but now Sunglasses Joyo has found himself a new home in the city of brotherly love. Joyo joins a stacked team, so stacked that he has been pushed to the 2nd line, but the Reapers have talent to surround Joyo even there (including Sunglasses Joyo's former teammate with Halifax in Care Bear!). And, the way it always seems to work out in sports, Joyo did not have to wait for very long to try to get his revenge on Halifax for having dismantled their roster, management, and cheerleading squad. It was apparent from the drop of the puck that Sunglasses Joyo was playing with a grudge, or at least that he would be once the first line shift happened. Sunglasses Joyo scored in the 1st and 2nd period to lead the Reapers to a 2-1 victory, with both of Sunglasses Joyo's goals being assisted by his familiar teammate Care Bear. Joyo was named the first star of the game, and it wasn't long before the entire city of Philadelphia donned sunglasses in support of their new 2nd line center. But, one has to ask: Has Sunglasses Joyo decided to peak too early? It will be hard to build off of this effort and maintain the same level of play over a full season, and surely Philadelphia has bigger goals in their sights than winning their home opener. The truth is that most of this story has still yet to unfold, and that Sunglasses Joyo will need a consistently high level of play in order to make up for the fact that he will ultimately dismantle any team that he is a member of. A lot of eyes will be on Sunglasses Joyo to see if all of this spectacle and fanfare is worth it, but fortunately for the fans of Philadelphia, their 2nd line center's eyes will be protected from even the most ultraviolet of rays. kirbithan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/127188-sunglasses-joyo-team-destroyer/ Share on other sites
