Name: Zigmund "Ziggy" Dupree

Position: Left Wing

Height: 72 inches

Weight: 190 lbs

Hails From: Muskegon, MI

Preferred Number: 88

Player Bio:

Born and raised on the west coast of Michigan in the city of Muskegon (population about 38,000). His love of the game came from watching the early 2000's Detroit Red Wings and their runs to the Stanley Cup finals and multiple championship wins. Even though he wasn't the biggest of kids, he idolized the play of Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers. He developed his style trying to emulate the combination of size, strength, and scoring touch. Unfortunately, he did not get dealt the same genetic hand of cards and currently stands at 6 feet tall and a sold, but not necessarily impressive, 190 lbs. After progressing through the house leagues in earlier childhood, Ziggy advanced to the local Peewee and Midget team, the Muskegon Chiefs.

Not living up to the scoring standards of the elite players in his age, Ziggy was always one of the top playmakers in his age group. He learned to do all the "blue collar" parts of the game and to excel at them. This may involve digging pucks out of the corners, aggressive forechecking, killing penalties, playing the body, and getting the puck to the scorers on the team. After setting assist records in the WMHL in the 16-year-old age bracket Ziggy would be drafted in the 3rd round of the USHL Entry Draft by the, you guessed it, his hometown Muskegon Lumberjacks. After putting up 61 points in 62 games in his last season, Ziggy is ready to take the next step in his hockey career.

Hoping that a team in the VHLM will take a chance on him, he wants to climb the career ladder and make it to the show, the VHL. Ziggy plans to forego his NHL eligibility because of the international and grassroots aspects of the VHL. Ziggy would like to hopefully join the Saskatoon Wild for the upcoming season and develop as a player. It seems like they have fostered an environment of progress and player progression. A run at the VHLM cup would be ideal as a start to his professional career.

Playing Style:

Ziggy is a primarily a playmaker with a grittier side to his game. Playing responsible defense and starting the rush the other way is what he excels at the most. Everyone has a job to do on the ice and Ziggy likes being the straw that stirs the drink, the sparkplug, the catalyst, ect.
