Jack Jeckler is a big bodied defenseman born and raised in New York, New York. Jeckler grew up amongst a hockey family with his father Joe playing semi-professionally. After Jack graduated from John F. Kennedy High School he signed a deal with the San Diego Marlins and played out the remainder of his first VHLM season. Jeckler was later released and played in the Junior Showcase Tournament for the Royals where the team played well, making it to the semi-finals only to be swept by the Pickles. With a total of 20 games played the stats speak for themselves. 54 Hits, 38 Shots Blocked, with 6 Assists which landed Jeckler with a +/- of 5. Analyzing strictly the first six games played with San Diego he had 20 Hits and 14 Shots Blocked which is 3.33 HIT per game and 2.33 SB on average. It was because of this fairly impressive feat he's already garnered some attention from the leagues top scouts. Jeckler's offensive numbers could be more impressive but with such a small showcase we're expecting things to improve over the course of a full season. Another area that we would like to see some improvements is in Jeckler's Penalty Infraction Minutes. Over the course of 20 games he racked up 18 PIM, this is mostly attributed to his fast and physical playstyle but we'd still like to see him spending less time in the penalty box. It's also worth noting that 5 of those minutes came from a fight where he fought to a draw sticking up for one of his teammates. Protecting his teammates is something you can always count on from Jack and if that means dropping the gloves then so be it. Off of the ice he has a fairly strict training regiment where he exercises and or practices at least five times a week. The diet is as equally important as the exercise to Jack and everyday he supplies his body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs to maximize his gains. Adhering primarily to the paleo diet for most of his life he would say that it was his mother Jackie's cooking that helped make him the man he is today. (6' 6'' 250 lbs) Jack Jeckler was the fourteenth overall pick in the VHLM draft and is about to play in his first full VHLM season for the San Diego Marlins.
