Streaking to Victory

The New York Americans of the VHL have stringed together an impressive twelve game winning streak. The interesting part? They have yet to take a single loss this season, starting off the season on the right foot. This is not a game of luck, there is definitely a reason behind their amazing record. This is a team that just came off a Continental Cup victory, trading away some players due to cap issues but still continue to charge onwards to their current record. 12-0-0. Wow.

They have the most potent offense in the entire league at this point, leading the entire league with fifty two goals; ten more than the next best, Helsinki with forty two. They have also allowed the least amount of goals in league play with only twenty two allowed. What more could a team ask for? The greatest goal differential, +30. They lead the entire league in all these categories and haven't slowed down at all.

A top notch penalty kill highlights their play, with an above average power play. They average an estimated seven and a half penalty minutes per game. PER GAME! They are tame and buy into the system, playing with skill rather than just crushing their opponents in a wear and tear type of game. Their centers have done an admirable job, even with Kellinger gone, they lead the league in face-off percentage by a good margin.

Their general manager has done a remarkable job to replace his expensive and aging players for those of fresh blood. Many would have expected them to falter at this point, having lost one of their biggest scorers in the off-season and defenseman Zadarov due to cap issues but this team has gone ahead and increased their dominance to prove that those players aren't what make the New York Americans one of the best teams in the league.

Brick Wahl has proven himself to be a top goaltender in the league so far, putting up brilliant numbers but they are definitely a product of his own hard work. Their back up played one game, being lit up but still managing a win, proving that Wahl contributes to the American's amazing streak. Tom Slaughter's one hit has to be the main reason why New York has done so well, also putting up twenty five points and thirteen goals in just twelve games. He also has yet to take a penalty, what a team player! Connor Low is primed to break a VHL record, hoping to take home his fifth Labatte trophy. Tordahl and Xin Xie Xiao have proved to be exceptional, both blessed with tremendous two-way abilities.Bennett Wahl, the best Wahl, looks to be having a breakout season with his nineteen points in twelve games, a much better start than last season. Sam Keller couldn't have chosen a better time to begin his career in the VHL. He might only have six points but is getting a chance to learn from the best so he can be properly groomed for next season and the play-offs. Milos Denis. He only has three points, all of them being assists. Though he also leads the entire league with his +/- rating of +15! Way to go Milos!

An amazing cast of players, genius tactical moves by the coach and a cohesive group of people that compliment each other well. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they will go streaking through to another twelve games. They have the star power, the hardware and determination. Where do you think their streak will end?

Yes, the Americans have built quite a large winning streak, curious to see if that will extend, looks like it, as they have been playing very well! 596 words.
