Cowboy 20
Aleksi Randell, mayor of Turku made a statement earlier this week following the Outlaw's first victory of the VHLM season. A proud hockey-loving city, Turku was on the verge of barring the team from returning following a recent winless road trip. The Outlaws first victory of the season came against the Red Wolves last week. A 5-4 victory in which the Outlaws were outshot 49-32 and only managed to stay in the game thanks to the .918 save percentage of goalie Valts Pumpurs. Leading scorer Cameron Greening of the Outlaws, who also scored during the game, was elated. "It feels like we just won the Founder's Cup. We quit counting how far in the hole we were and the mood in the locker room was far beyond sombre. Was definitely the worst losing streak I've ever been a part of in my career. Hopefully from here on out we can bring some solid hockey to the city of Turku." Cameron Greening, a VHLM rookie, has managed 24 points (12G, 12A) in 22 games and aside from the addition of goaltender Valts Pumpurs, appears to be the light in the dark for the ailing Outlaws. Hopefully they can pick things up so the Turku public doesn't annex them from their home rink.
