Warsaw Predators sniper Girts Galvins had a huge night at the Award show coming away with two major trophies! Girts won The Dustin Funk Award for Most Improved Player and The Kevin Brooks Award for Most Goals in a season! A really special night for Galvins as the two awards not only cement in place in the record books but also cap off a sensational season for the Latvian Superstar. We've known about the Kevin Brooks Top Goal Scoring award since the end of the season but it was nice to finally receive the trophy and get the recognition by his peers and the award committee.

 

The Dustin Funk Trophy for Most Improve Player was something he hoped he'd be nominated for so Girst was thrilled when he saw his name on the ballot! Turns out Girts received 8 of the I believe 10 votes from the committee to win the award! The fact that Galvins doubled his goal totals from 27 to 54 was a big factor as well as going from 67 points to 109 points, which was nearly double as well. He also more than doubled his blocks from 27 to 60 and the biggest jump was in hits where he went from just 18 last season all the way to a burly 141 this season. Quite a remarkable improvement not only in goals but his all-around game, he even had 15 more assists.

 

Girts Galvins monster break out season put him on the map as one of the elite players and goal scorers in the entire league and this season we could see him even improve on some of those numbers. Girts is thankful to all his teammates for making this kind of season possible and it was great to see Warsaw superstars like Marner and Payne get recognized as well for their huge seasons.  Look for more greatness to come from the Predator players in season 87.
