Pifferfish 596
Reporter Todd Ripley: Good afternoon, and thank you for joining me today, Philadelphia Reapers GM. Let's start with the big news - you recently made a trade that saw you move down from the 2nd overall pick to the 7th overall pick in the VHLM Draft. Can you tell us a bit about the thought process behind that move? Philadelphia Reapers GM: Absolutely. We were evaluating our team's needs and the available talent in the draft, and we felt that there was a cluster of players in the middle of the first round who were all fairly similar in terms of their potential. By moving down to the 7th pick, we were able to acquire a talented defenseman in Trey Jones, who we believe will make an immediate impact on our team, as well as still get a player we had our eye on in Eric Queefson. Reporter Todd Ripley: That leads me to my next question - you used that 7th overall pick to select another defenseman, Eric Queefson. Was that always the plan, or did the trade change your strategy? Philadelphia Reapers GM: It was always our plan to select the best player available with our pick, regardless of position. When Eric was still available at the 7th pick, we felt that he was the best player on the board and a good fit for our team's needs. We're excited to have him join our organization. Reporter Todd Ripley: Some have criticized the move, saying that you gave up too much by moving down in the draft. How do you respond to that criticism? Philadelphia Reapers GM: I understand why people might feel that way, but we believe that the trade was a good one for our team. We were able to acquire a player in Trey Jones who we feel can make an immediate impact on our team, while still getting a talented young defenseman in Eric Queefson. Plus, by moving down in the draft, we were able to acquire some additional assets that we can use to further improve our team. Ultimately, it's all about building a team that can compete for championships, and we believe that this trade helps us do that. Reporter Todd Ripley: I'd like to switch gears now and talk about free agency. There are rumors that your team is negotiating with a rather high-maintenance defenseman named Juan Ceson. Can you comment on that? Philadelphia Reapers GM: Yes, we have been in negotiations with Juan Ceson and his agent. While he's certainly a talented player, I can confirm that his demands in contract talks have included some details the VHLM fanbase and sports media has dubbed as "rather ridiculous", including things like ponies and statues. Reporter Todd Ripley: Ponies and statues? That's quite unusual for a contract negotiation. How do you handle a player like that? Philadelphia Reapers GM: Well, we try to approach all negotiations with a level head and a willingness to find common ground. We certainly value Juan's talent on the ice, but we also have to consider the long-term financial health of our organization. We're hopeful that we can come to an agreement that works for both sides, but we won't compromise the integrity of our organization in the process. Juan is certainly a talented player, and we appreciate the value he brings to our team. While his contract demands have been unique, we understand that every player has their own priorities and preferences. We're continuing to work with Juan and his agent to find a solution that works for everyone involved. We're hopeful that we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement and have Juan on our team for the upcoming season. Reporter Todd Ripley: I see. And how are the negotiations progressing so far? Philadelphia Reapers GM: I can't go into specifics, but I will say that we're still in talks and working to find a resolution that works for both sides. Reporter Todd Ripley: Well, thank you for your time today, Philadelphia Reapers GM. Best of luck with the upcoming season and free agency negotiations. Philadelphia Reapers GM: Thank you, Reporter Todd. I appreciate it. 675 words 4/3 week Edited April 3, 2023 by Pifferfish Triller, badcolethetitan, Subject056 and 1 other 3 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/134717-gm-interview/ Share on other sites
Pifferfish 596
@dylanjj37 @twists are both specifically mentioned. Sounds like the Philly GM is out here defending the demands of Juan.
