Life After Houston

Tobias Weiss tries not to think about life after Houston.

He’s happy in Houston, he loves his teammates and he loves his front-office. He doesn’t actually want to leave, but it’s looking like he’ll outgrow the VHLM sooner rather than later. He worries about what draft-day will look like, and whether any team will actually call his name.

Logically, he knows he’s a player that teams will be looking at. He sees the scouts in the stands, but he also knows that some of his teammates are more attractive assets. This year’s draft is saturated in defensemen, so it’ll be hard for him to break away and make a name for himself.

Tobias tries not to think about the draft, but it’s hard when that’s all the reporters want to talk about nowadays.

‘Do you think you’ll see your name called come draft day?’

Tobias just wants to talk about the playoffs. Houston is looking at making a Cinderella run this year, and they might end up playing Mississauga in the first round at the rate everything is going. Draft day makes him nervous.

So Tobias doesn’t think about the draft, or life after Houston. He locks in on the playoffs.

That’s the least he can do for a city he loves.
