After a short vacation following Toronto’s elimination from playoff contention, Jimi Jax is back in the training facility and has a head start on conditioning for S89. The center is heading into his sophomore year and the third season of his pro career.

Jax is expected to be amongst the nominees for Rookie of the Year after a red hot second half to the season, but the awards ceremony from a previous season is not something he’s focused on at this point.

“I don’t think I’m winning it, there were a lot of good rookies in this league that played more consistently. They were older and played on better teams – and didn’t start off cold like me. I am looking forward to next year. I want us to be in the playoffs and I really think we’re headed in that direction”.

What type of award does Jax have his sights on next season?

“The Continental Cup. That’s all I want right now, but based on my rookie season, I feel like I can make a big jump and contend for the Dustin Funk trophy”
