The Phantom of the VHL has recently made his VHLM debut and is training to be one of the top stars in the VHL. In his first five games with the Ottawa Lynx he has recorded three goals and is quickly improving. The Phantom knows that he is a good player but must focus on improving himself if he wants to break out and move up the leagues.

Pros

Shooting

The Phantom of the VHL has a very well crafted shot which he has perfected over the years to make him a top goal scorer with an extremely accurate and hard shot. The strongest part of his game has always been and will continue to be his goal scoring, specifically on the powerplay.

Physicality and Size

Boasting both an impressive stature and weight, the Phantom’s strength has always been a large part of his identity. Everywhere in his game you are able to see his strength and how it affects all the plays he’s involved with. It can be knocking somebody off the puck, taking powerful shots or even fighting. The Phantom is destined to be one of the strongest players when his time in the VHL comes.

Defensive Play

Despite being a center, the Phantom wants to make sure to stay on top of his defense as much as he can. Part of this comes in his previously mentioned physicality, being able to stop attackers from entering his zone with force. Other aspects of this include his ability to block shots and make sure nothing gets to the net.

Cons

Passing and Playmaking

With scoring being such a large part of the Phantom’s game, his playmaking skills are where he struggles more offensively. While the passes aren’t terrible, it is clear that the Phantom has taken a focus to shooting the puck much more than he has to passing it around the ice. It is often more common to see an assist from the Phantom come from a rebound and not from an actual pass.

Skating

The Phantom’s skating has improved over the years but it is clear that there is still much work to be done. While not clumsy on the ice, his position could be greatly improved which would also help out his offensive abilities and see a better passing game from him.

Speed

Related to his skating, his speed has also been seen as a problem. The Phantom must work on his speed in order to get better positions on the ice. Speed is easily the largest downside of his game and if he can improve that it will be immediately noticed in his game and how he plays the sport.

One thing is for certain, the Phantom wants to put the VHLM, VHLE, and the VHL on notice and let them know he is the next big thing and the future of the league. Every aspect of his game is bound to improve and he is ready to be the brightest star in the league.
