Scouting Report

Player Name: Dorji Khan

Position: Left Wing

Height: 6'8"

Weight: 240 pounds

Age: 19

Team: Halifax 21st

Place born: Mongolia

Pros

Strength: Dorji being an intimidating figure towering at 6'8" and weighing in at 240lbs, he is very heavy on his skates and well anchored on the ice. His time working on the farm as a youngster definitely had an impact on his strength development. There is no shortage of brute strength when it comes to Dorji.

Speed and Agility: Dorji Khan exhibits impressive speed on the ice for a big man, allowing him to break away from opponents and create scoring opportunities.

Stickhandling: His stickhandling skills enable him to maintain possession and navigate through tight spaces. Given his long arms, it helps him create more space when an opponent comes near.

Versatility: Khan is adaptable, capable of playing multiple positions effectively. Although he prefers his spot on the left wing

Cons and Areas for Improvement:

Physical Play: While his agility and strength is an asset, he could benefit from adding more physicality to his game, especially in board battles and defensive situations. Being a big body, he should be throwing his weight around more, wearing down opponents with hits and creating space for other teammates. He could be a dominating force if he continues to work on the physicality aspect of the game and teammates could definitely benefit from this as well. All about being a true team player

Defensive Awareness: Enhancing his defensive positioning and awareness will make him a more well-rounded player. He tries and continuously working towards becoming a true 2 way forward. His physical play and long stick reach could also help break plays and he could benefit from being more successful at poke checking which would up his defensive game and also create more opportunities for his teammates to breakout.

Shot Accuracy: Although his vision for plays is good, Khan’s shot accuracy could use refinement, particularly when finishing scoring chances. His intensity might make him hold his stick a little too tightly and reduce his accuracy. If he can settle down and become more calm on the ice, it might become more easy for him. But he should keep on practicing for better accuracy.

Overall Assessment:

Dorji Khan has the potential to be a valuable asset for the Halifax 21st. It’s not everyday a 6’8” mammoth of a man combines skills and strength. With continued development and focus on his weaker areas, he could become a key contributor to the team’s success.
