Patrick Demko gears up for draft

Fresh out of the plains of Indiana comes a new defensive prospect, and hopes to be drafted in this year's VHLM Dispersal Draft. His family is not full of generational hockey talent, or even athletic talent for that matter. If he is drafted he would be this first person in his family to play any sort of professional sport. His parents were avid fans of hockey and the VHL when he was young and he learned how to play when he was very young.

 

Demko plans to bring a solid defensive presence to his new team. He doesn't know if he'll score a lot of points, but he does know that he can break up a lot of scoring chances. 

"I know I might take a hit because I play almost exclusively offensively, but I think that side of the game is heavily underrated and is of great value to a team that wants to win," he said.

 

Where and when Patrick is chosen doesn't matter to him, he just wants to find a home and compete hard for the team that has chosen him.

"I really don't have any preference," he said. "Wherever I go I'll cherish my time there and do my best to help that team win."
