In their first stint at being GM for Halifax, they worked really hard to continue on the great legacy left behind by the departing GM, Jeffrey Pines (father of current VHLM star goalie Jeffrey Pines Jr.). Dickson was lucky enough that the team’s best player, Bryn Yrwy, was around for both of their two seasons and in the first season, S79, the partnership of Yrwy and Dickson led to Yrwy scoring the most goals in the league. In S80, Yrwy not only scored the most goals and points in the season but also won the MVP trophy. If that wasn’t enough to show how great a GM Mickey Dickson was, in S80 the team reached the Founder’s Cup final, the most prized trophy in all of hockey, thanks to Dickson’s leadership and Yrwy’s skills.
