WHERE THE PRO AM IS - Sigard Petrenko has been thriving on a stacked Riskies team, leading the ProAm in points. Along with fellow Riskies Pete Mitchell and Spanish Moon Moth, the three of them make up the top three scorers in the ProAm season. It’s funny to see that even though Sigard hasn’t played professionally in quite a few seasons, he is able to bring a scoring touch. One that he jokes he never had in the VHL.

“Of course I show up for the ProAm while having a mid career in the VHL.” He remarked with a laugh. “It’s been a lot of fun meeting the young guys and VHL legends. The Riskies are a great team and just a real fun group of players so I’ve been enjoying my time here.”

WHERE THE VHL AWARDS WERE - Also participating in the ProAm, albeit with a lot less success and scoring, is Raimo Tuominen. This season was a big step up for the young centreman, who wanted to prove he was more than just a second line center that could provide depth scoring. While this season was a bridge season, the young group of the Wranglers definitely turned some heads and the emergence of a Catia Goncalves and Raimo Tuominen duo emerged.

“Well, Catia definitely deserves so much credit for helping me find some sort of consistency. Very underrated playmaker and even more underrated when it comes to goal scoring. I know this comparison hurts fellow Calgarians but it’s like playing with a prime Johnny Gaudreau.”

Winning the Dustin Funk Trophy for his first ever award in the VHL system, he is looking to focus on team success.

“I’m really excited to see this team moving forward. The group we had last season proved that it loved to compete and now with some new faces, we’ll continue to compete and turn some heads.”

Also added to his trophy case was a Bronze Medal won alongside Team Nordic.

“To be honest, I had a bit of a disappointing tournament in terms of my individual play. I have a lot to learn from Ruutu and I can’t wait to represent this team again soon.”

WHERE THE PRO AM IS - Ryuu Crimson did not mince any words when asked why he fought Sigard Petrenko on the first day of the ProAm.

“I hate his guts. We’re good friends but I can’t stand him.”

After reports of the confrontation that happened at a Portland Winterhawks game between the two, as well as the formal apologies, it was safe to say that they still wanted to settle it.

“I had my eyes on a player and was scouting him. I made the mistake of telling Sigard and he wanted to snatch him from me. Thankfully, I had my way and I will be coaching him this upcoming season.”

Ryuu and Sigard ended up fighting to a draw and shared a handshake after the game.

“I’m still gonna get him back for putting a cow in my hotel room.”
