Anthique 224
After a complete season in the VHLM, we can already tell a lot about the style of hockey he will play during his career. He joined late in the S93 season with San Diego and his impact was immediate. In 13 games, he had 13 points with 6 goals and 4 of them were on the powerplay and one game winning goal while shooting only 27 pucks on net for a 22,22% shot pourcentage. On the defensive side, he got 26 hits and 18 shot blocks so he was not only a good point producer on the back end, he was also responsible defensively. The team didn't make the playoffs, but as a first pro experience, it was mostly positive (no playoffs sadly). So at the S94 draft, teams that were looking for an offensive defenseman that can also play well in his own zone had eyes on him. It was Ottawa who choose him with the 7th overall pick. Almost the same success offensively with 24 points in 32 games, and defensively it was okay too with 72 hits and 50 block shots. The team was not ready for a Cup contention so they trade him after that to Saskatoon where his offensive take a next step. In the 40 games left to the season, he got 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points, 82 shots, 111 hits, 52 block shots (with a much better team), 2 game winning goals and 6 powerplay goals. In the playoffs he continue playing as a top defenseman and he helped the team won the Founder's Cup! A great overall performance as he wasnt' able to score a goal in 16 games even with 29 shots, but he got more responsible defensively with a good 41 hits and 22 shot blocks. It was good to win that Cup in the VHLM, a thing my first didn't had the chance to win. Would be fun to win again the Cup, but this time in the VHLE next season with Vasteras. They got me with the 9th overall pick, so two pick later than the VHLM. All teams doesn't need the same thing roster wise, but it was in the same range so I'm not surprise at all. They a an history of winning in the league so I hope I can be the X factor next season to bring them far in the playoffs. So far he's the second best defenseman on the team, but the first one is two years older so we'll see when I will be able to catch up. I didn't looked at the other teams, but I think we have a good team and our forward group should be one of the best so hopefully I can pass them the puck to get the offense going. After that season in the VHLE, I will move to Davos, where I get drafted with the 8th overall selection. They already have a great young core and having Desjardins on defense will definitively giving more depth to their squad. Being a little bit younger than their core will help him when he will enter the league as he will not have the pressure to bring the team to the next level. Great years are coming in Davos!
